Lousy day out today, so I'm looking at Intake Manifolds for a Hemi build. I think I will be using a Mopar Street Hemi Dual Quad Inline, part # P5153737. This uses Carter AFB Carbs.
I'm wondering if other Make/Model carbs will fit this set up, along with the required Throttle Linkage, and Fuel Supply Lines ? Looking for input on what anyone has used, that will work without too much modification, and would also like to use a Stock style Chrome dome, or Mopar Oval Air Cleaner Set Up. Thanks for any info on this...

Why not call Tim banning out of CANADA, get some info really easy to talk to. FOR HEMIS ONLY

Thanks Fran, I didn't think to look over at their site today ? Looks complete, and one stop shopping. Has anyone run this set up ?

I agree with Fran just get the Mancini setup and save a lot of hunting down the other parts Springs, throttle linkage and brackets etc.

Just go EFI and be done with it

The hemi i bought from Tim has almost the same set up as Mancini is showing. Haven’t started it yet but it looks really fast.

The learning curve is dependent on your willingness to actually learn it, it is not that hard especially with the internet and a wide variety of books out there as well as your computer skills. Yes, it does take some learning but what you get back is worth every second especially if your are running a system that controls fuel and timing. You can adjust a wide array of things sitting in the car, no wrenches needed not to mention the fact that it will adjust itself for things like altitude, air density, etc. You can adjust cold starts, idle settings, fuel enrichment and timing anywhere in the RPM band, etc. If you want to get the most out of it EFI cannot be beat.

That said, if this is a limited driver or perhaps racer then carbs will get it done as well.

I've thought about that too. Does that system change the height, as it would affect hood clearance ? I'm not really up on any modern systems, so I'm thinking a Major learning curve would be needed ?

The description state its setup for shaker hoods

With the set up i showed u i had to remove the 1” spacers as it was hitting my hood TIM said i probably lost 20hp but so I’m still about 750 more to go.

I think one issue with that is that with Edelbrock carbs, the AFB base plate for the chrome dome air cleaner will not fit as the AFBs have a smaller neck size. I think there have been some bases fabricated and periodically sold from time to time for purposes of mounting Edelbrocks but I’m not too sure of their availability right now or quality.

Want the nice original looking carbs that are CFM monsters for the 426 hemi... look no further.

Scott Harms tests all his carbs on a mule hemi and dials them in perfectly.

I bought a set from him and stuck them on my engine with no fine tuning on the dyno.

Bolt on and run... fact

I ran 2 inline 750 cfm Carters (same as Edelbrock 1407's) on my old +.030 over 426 street Hemi with Edelbrock progressive linkage kit. Worked great for street driving. Everyone told me it was too much carburetion. With a little dialing in I had it running awesome. HEMI'S love CFM.
I run 2 1050 Dominators on the street on my current 528" HEMI now.

All of the foregone examples look great but my question is: if a powerful car is desired, why not just PURCHASE a new Hellcat, or some other brand, that has all of the latest edition of electronics, engine controls, produces mega HP, and gets good fuel milage, all the latest safety and suspension requirements to go with the engine power without the associated headaches of making things fit and operate in a coordinated manor.....plus....its warranted.....accomplishment is one aspect but so is piece of mind is another, but overall cost should be considered..... just my opinion of course.

I see your point, but I'm just not into the New Age cars. My wife would like a newer Challenger, Charger, or 300, so one will be enough, if that time comes. Sometimes it's not the Destination, but the Journey, that is what counts. I'm happy living in the past...

Scott does some kick butt work. Nice little video.

Yes.....to some extent...but....WHY would you want to take a, say, 2000 mile road trip in an old car, with a "home made" drive train without all the creature comforts....and where would get all the pieces and parts to support the build while on the road? You'd probably get far more milage out of a two week, first class round trip with accomodstions to Europe or Hawaii, or Las Vegas with the wife, who, just might like that better watching you fit the electronic engine in a 50 year old car...... just some additional talking points to condider.....
