67 Coronet engine question

Just put a down payment on a 67 convertible that I stumbled across. It’s a 2 owner car, unrestored. One re paint and new top was put on in the 90s but overall it’s a very original car with a small block…. So would it be a 318 or 273?

I would think 273 but not sure as they had both engines in that era. 318 Poly engines were phased out in 1966 I do believe.

That’s the thing, 67 is kind of a swing year. If it was a 66 I’d definitely say it was a 273, 68 would be 318 but I’m unsure where it’s a 67
 
Both the 273 and the LA318 were available in US-built 1967 Coronet's. The 318 Poly was still being put in Canadian 1967 Coronet's ( last year of it ). That is a very good looking Coronet 440 convertible.

I wish it was a 500, but is just the 440 trim level. It is a Canadian car but definitely not the 318 poly. It’s also possible that the engine has been swapped but current owner of 30 years says the motor is untouched.
 
I did the correction to 440 after going back and looking at your picture. The 273 was also available in Canadian cars. Friend of mine bought a 440 series hardtop with one. They are not very commonly seen. I am a '67 Coronet guy too, with an R/T hardtop.

The car actually spent most of its life in Ontario where you’re located but purchased new in Manitoba
 
Hopefully it has a build sheet. A friend of mine has a Lynch Road '67 440 sold new in Pa that specified the "Canadian 318" Poly with hydraulic lifters.

The poly 318 was discontinued in 66, a 67 could be a 273 or 318 in cars built for the USA.

273 was also available in a 1968 B body but is fairly rare.

I've seen a fair share of 273 67 440 model cars.
Not as many as 318 cars, but several.

Would be interesting if it was a Canada built LA 318.

The 7th VIN is the plant.

Don't remember what Windsor is.

7 is St Louis IIRC.

Windsor is 9. I had a Windsor-built 1967 Coronet 440 series wagon, once. It came with a 318 Poly and a 727.

What a beauty! Great color! If you get a chance, can you get me a pic or two of the weather stripping layout on the front header bow? I'm redoing mine right now and need a second opinion
 
I have a 67 belvedere ll with a poly. In Canada
 
Looks like a nice cruising car. Being from New Brunswick, you should be able to drive with the top down once or twice this year.

........With the heat on of course.
 
I didn't know convertibles were legal in Canada.
 
The small block should have the engine displacement stamped on the driver side front just below the head. Might have to clean or scrape the paint to see it as the stamping was usually pretty light.

Yes I can do that as soon as it gets home. The owner of the car suddenly passed away and his widow is selling it so the registration is currently in motor vehicle limbo land
