Disclaimer: I don't think it will but I DON'T want this to at all get political. I'm posting it because I thought it was knowledgeable (especially for me now), a good way to mess with the scam artist, and thought it was kind of funny too.

I read some of the comments and some of em are pretty good. I'm just happy and relieved that I didn't get scammed (because as some of you may know I almost did), and I now know a way to "detect" a scam.

Good PSA.... kinda wonder about the authenticity tho. No scammer/spammer that I have encountered would stay on the phone that long without serving his agenda. Anyone could clearly see that cop wasn't really playing along with the guy's little racket. They would bail out on the call much, much sooner I'm sure.

I did the same thing several years ago. I bullshitted the guy so long I got tired of ******* with him and hung up. As long as they think they have a hook in you they will stay on the phone.

I did this a couple years ago. I kept that idiot on the line for about 20 minutes. I told him my name was Marion Morrison. He said his name was Richard something. I kept asking him to repeat himself, told him I couldn’t understand, had a hearing problem and acted very nervous. I finally asked him if I could call him Dick, he said no Richard, I said okay Dick. He got a little upset, after a couple more, he was so ticked he called me a mother ******. I said , I don’t think the IRS is supposed to talk to people like that, Dick. He went ballistic, I started laughing, my wife started laughing and he hung up.
