Been here a couple of days. Visiting my daughter in Menomonee Falls. I like it here, I could live here, but my daughter plans on moving again next year. She wants to go back east (Virginia, Delaware, North or South Carolina). We went up to Elkhart yesterday to check out Road America. They had a carting thing going on at the cart track. Main track was empty. Security didn't want to let us in, but I got to chatting with them ans it happened to come up that I used to race and had many runs at well known tracks. They couldn't get us in fast enough after that. It was like we were longtime friends. It was fun !

I will be back on home turf Saturday. I find Wisconsin to be a lot like western NY, except the people are much more friendly....and the taxes are a lot lower !

Have fun, sounds like a great visit/trip...

Not sure if Milwaukee Mile is open yet, you can do some laps there, riding or driving. Further north you get the better it is

Saturday and Sunday will be the coldest days we will have in the next ten days.

You probably wouldn't feel the same way during the month of February.....

you ever been in Buffalo in February? We typically have feet of snow on the ground and temps hovering in the single digits or below the whole month. Snow and cold don’t scare me. I would prefer warmer climates, but I would gladly put on my big boy pants to be nearer to my kids.

You can take all your Mopars on the road course at Road America also during many dates thru out the Summer

More of a controlled environment , but well worth it

One of the most Beautiful tracks

I was captivated by not only the layout, but also by the way they just tucked it in with nature. I bet it is stunning during the summer !
Watkins Glen is my home track. The similarites between the two tracks is amazing !
My daughter and I took the stairs down to Canada Corner. That has got to be exciting during a race !

Wife, son and I did a summer vacation there several years ago.
Beautiful part of the country, the part we experienced anyway. Did several days in the "Dells", loved it. I was struck by the incredible distinction between the level of regulation there vs my home state. Things like no helmets required on the mini go-cart tracks as a small example. It seemed to me they treated people as free adults to choose what was right for them as long as those choices didn't negatively impact others. Its been a while, maybe litigation has caught up?
I read, a few years back, a description of the area and its attractions that did not seem like I remembered.

Road America has its own area for Corvette owners - Corvette Corral

They are special LOL

We always go for June Sprints - Cheap and low attendance - Can park anywhere near the track and make your own picnic and enjoy the weekend

NASCAR race last year was just crazy - We got there at 7AM , early for the Trans Am race

They are rebuilding one of the bridges over the track this past winter

They also had Street Drags this past summer on the main straightaway

Only an hour away for me

If you ever get a chance , sign up for one of the Sunset Cruises on the track

Welcome to Menomonee Falls! I wish I had seen this post sooner. It would have been cool to put a face with the avatar. I am in Menomonee Falls as well so probably within walking distance. Glad to hear you like it here. It is a pretty cool place to live. Lots of shows in the summertime within 30 minutes drive and plenty of others within 2 hours. :)

Da Falls! My home town and as a geezer now – it isn’t what it used to be. Was a sleepy village distinctly separate then from Milwaukee. Lot of guys had their muscle cars/hot rods as I did and was among those black listed by the Falls PD and the Mac’s rent-a-cops. Some I earned, some was purely being young guy in a Cuda and GTO...discrimination, lol. We cruised the main drag and hung out on the north side of town at night in a shopping mall called Colonial Plaza among two other routine spots. Appleton Ave leading south out of town was a nice racing spot (for a while) a boulevard running to the freeway or into Milwaukee depending on forking left or right. Buddy of mine lost his life near the fork racing rolling his Torino. I raced there a few times and good thing more luck was on my side. Another race spot was Leon Rd for a short while (too visible as it paralleled the Hy 41 express way); but we also had or spots just outside of town for running. All these areas are now developed…urban sprawl. Back then we had an A&W and a Dog ‘n Suds drive in…great memories getting a beverage on a hot summer night by car-hops and there were two outdoor theaters; The Star Light and Victory on opposite sides of the village…nice memories there too with dates and beer!

Seemed like things changed rather quickly as the drive-in’s and theaters were demolished and traffic became nuts adding a cruising ban. I was lucky as by the time this was happening my cruising days were over moving on to becoming a responsible adult. I live about 15 miles from the Falls and most times when I drive through can’t help but recollect how the town used to be as some of the old landmarks are still there. Well it also reminds me I’ve been around for a while.

Lets meet up ! I don't leave until Friday morning ! I am right next to the falls. Across the street from AJ's

Haha, dont get me started on the cheese ! I am taking about 6 lbs back with me !

6lbs, that's like a weekend supply lol.
Get some brats from a local meat market, that's what will bring you back.

I picked up some Colby today, big chunk. Now the total is 8+pounds. It is just the wife and I so this will last for a bit.
Still gotta pick up some brats. Is Karls in menomonee falls good ?

Karl's is pretty good but the House of Homemade Sausage in Mequon is even better. And from where you are staying, probably a closer ride. I highly recommend the bear brats and the jalapeno brats.
