The madness at BAT is completely out of control. $33,500.00 for this?

I don't get it. A 20 year old Nissan econobox selling for more than double what it sold for new? If someone is going to spend that kind of dough on a Jap car daily driver, why not just get a new Honda Civic that has a warranty? As far as insurance value goes, if you got into an accident, the car is probably only worth a few grand at best.

File under; more money than brains.

A 20-year old ANYTHING with only 445 miles is hardly a "daily driver". It obviously wasn't driven daily and likely won't be. Besides, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

And if this was a K-car or an Omni, you'd probably feel differently !!

It's just basic transportation & not something to take to the weekend car shows and proudly show off.

No I wouldn't.

A 1989 Dodge Shadow ES Turbo w 445 miles.... Hell yes!!!!

At this point probably going to a collection. To drive it even if it had more but, still low miles would be a gamble. The reason why I say this is good luck finding parts for it. Finding parts is getting to be struggle for cars of this era especially when talking in regards to electronics.

That same 33k could be better spent on a vehicle that has a lot more towing and hauling capabilities.

It is a strange place. 1 guy bought 4 Buick GNX’s in row. And paid more and more stupid money til the last one he paid $225,000. For 275HP and 310 Ft. lb. of torque? A new Mustang 4 cylinder turbo makes 300HP, the same torque, and you can get a clutch pedal with a 6 speed. I don’t get it.

Even the GLHS Omni was fun....crazy lane swapping fun. Power shifted 2nd gear with one and actually thought about maybe letting off the throttle some but didn't :D

We had a 1985 Dodge Omni GLH growing up. Now the difference was the GLH wasn't a turbo but, still got the 2.2 High Performance with the 5 speed and some of the Shelby stuff. I remember it was an okay car. It was a zippy car for what it was in the early to mid 1990s.

Some people had said that individual was doing that to artificially inflate the market for those cars. Is there any truth to that? I don't and can't really answer that since that's the opinion/speculation of others. The Grand National was underrated but, I get your point as well. The newer Mustang has it's own issues. Also, with the Grand National don't forget they came with the 200R4 automatic transmission as well. Years ago, I almost bought a Buick Grand National with lowish miles for around $15k-$20k and stock. Sometimes, I regret my decision and sometimes I don't. I like the 3.8 Turbo Trans Ams from this era as well.

Doubt you could even buy parts for it at this point.. crazy.

For about $50k, you could build a clone. All the “special” body parts and emblems are available, and don’t cost that much. $15k would get you a super clean ‘84-‘87 Regal. On the cheap, you could do an LS. I’d go the new 602 Chevy crate that makes 1000HP, a 6 speed, and a Ford 9”. You could actually drive it, take it to the track, and run 10’s all day.

Oh yes, I had almost forgotten about the early Regal T-Type. If I'm going to LS Swap a car I wouldn't do a Grand National at this point but, I'll go with the related Monte Carlo SS.

I’d do the Monte as well. My brother’s 85 is sitting in my driveway!

As to the guy pushing the price up on those Buicks. It must be working, because a different buyer just bought this one recently. Idk, just not seeing almost a quarter of a million dollars.

An easy car to clone the GNX. But with a better drivetrain. Look how many were produced from ‘82-‘87. Basically the same body. There’s got to be over 100,000 of them still out there.

Some people are just looking for history, or nostalgia. The GNX had 360 Ft. lb. not 310; the regular 1987 GN produced 355 Ft. lb. that year. And people can still buy new Mustangs if that's all they want, but with under 600 GNXs built 35 years ago, they're a bit scarcer and probably the only mid 13 second family car built in the 80s. There are cheaper and faster cars than a hemi-cuda too, but some people just know what they want.
