I have a 69 Charger R/T SE that I bought full cutoff rear quarter panels for from a California junkyard. I would rather not disturb the factory spot welds on them, and I am considering trying to put them on in one piece, the full door jambs, wheel houses inner and outer and the trunk extensions with the rear valance corners intact. I am thinking that if I take everything out that I am going to replace that I might be able to get it done in one piece. I will be using an AMD center trunk floor pan, rear valance pan, dutch panel and tailpanel. With everything cut off the back of the car, I am hoping to have the room to maneuver the piece into place. I bought the rear quarters before reproduction ones were available and they are in really nice shape. The car is going to be black so I want to use the best pieces possible for fit and straightness.

I don't think it will be easy, but I like your idea & I think it can be done. Someone here can be of far more assistance than I, but I don't see why it couldn't be done in the right order of assembling it all. Maybe I'm completely wrong' so I will wait & see what others here say.

Try a fitment first What do you have to loose. Good luck

Pictures? Personally I would be inclined to drill out the spot welds carefully. And piece it togetherso you have access to all the areas for welding , more importantly strength. The big hole which would be 5/16th wurth or some other company sells spot weld drill bits.
just my opinion.

I definately want to retain as many of the factory spot welds as possible. I think I can do it in one piece, but I will probably need atleast three or more people to help maneuver it into place.

yes.... in 1988 I bought a full used quarter for my GTX....... clean Arizona part......... I wanted all the factory spot welds to show...... did the door jamb, wheel house (inner and outer), trunk gutter, and the drop off......I was young and cocky, had no clue about the stamped numbers in the gutter, it got scrapped............even did the inner quarter where the rear side glass lives..........all 1 piece, it's totally doable...... job came out ok for a youngster, but 'I ripped out some of it and redid it about 20 years later

Awesome, great to hear that it is doable! I will leave the drivers side trunk jamb in place and keep the taillight panel in place to get proper fitment. After the quarter panels are on then I will cut the tail panel off and replace it.

Please take plenty of pictures and keep us posted on your progress.

The rear quarters have been in my loft for 16 years. Someone had already started cutting off the drivers side quarter off the car before I bought it. After I get the garage finished ( I just bought and installed four storage lifts) I plan on getting started on this project.

AHA!

That's where that meme came from.
