I have been working with a shop going through a bunch of things to get my GTX road worthy. The more we dig, the more it is apparent that the previous owner only showed this car and never drove it. Now we are finding things that my third party inspection never picked up on. Today's craziness, while fixing a very minor problem under the console top plate we discovered that the entire shifter assembly bracket was not mounted to the hump. It seems pretty clear that the floor pans were replaced in the car - they look excellent. But the idiots who did the build only epoxied the bracket onto the hump instead of welding it like it is supposed to be. Of course the epoxy did not hold so the whole assembly was just sitting loose under the console. Probably explains the strange feel when were shifting it previously. We have sense corrected this. But it just blows my mind the half *** way that this was originally restored/replaced.

Yup lots of hacks out there. I am working on a 36 Plymouth Panel with MSD Atomic FI, been to a few Performance shops around here trying to get it dialed in. Went to get it and it would not crank over. Owner says he has had 3 starters replaced in 2 years. Not too far from my place so we put a strap on it a pulled it here. It has a 383 Chevy form BluePrint in it. Yeah I know. So I yank the starter and it comes out Hard like binding up for a better word. The guy that built the car or some one put on one of those cheezy cast aluminum flywheel covers on. What I think happened is they did not pull the cover and just bolted in the starter cocked with an impact. Had to drill and install a Heli Coil in the block. Got it fired and went through the FI system setting parameters ect. Then I found 4 Plug wire boots burned on the Cheapass shorty Hedders. Thanks Speedway/ China. The FI will never star to learn miss firing or vaccum leaks ect. Accel shorty plugs and some boot insulators should clear up that issue. Parts are ordered. Whats next? i am sure it will be some Hack job. Pretty cool car though.

Ordered Shorty plugs Accel # 414S-4. They are about 1/16 shorter and wont do the job. NGK makes a Iridium race plug but at $55 per plug not an option. Ordered some Ceramic plug boots will see if they work. Car Show this Saturday at Sisbarro in Las Cruces, supposed to be a Swap Meet also.

So JB Weld isn't appropriate for this type of work? Huh??? Looks like I may have to go back and redo some stuff!

On the website, nastyZ28, there have been alot of discussions of some really poorly built engines from Blueprint..... Just sayin..........

Everytime I watch one of these "collector car auctions" I always cringe at the thought of making those lipstick/botox beauties run and drive properly. Shiny paint is nice though.

How true!
Fortunately, while we found all these ridiculous things (like the shifter brackets) while going through this car to get it road ready, we also discovered that it is otherwise and outstanding build. Every nut and bolt is new. Even under the dash looks perfect. The underside of the car is outstanding. It is one of the main reasons I bought this car because nearly every other one I looked at had "crap looking" undersides.

Can we petition you for some pics of the outside?
If you mean the car, give me a few days. I am having a paint correction and ceramic coat done on the car this week. Will get some better photos of the car in the light next week. Frankly, it seems to rain all the time right now.
