I have been working with a shop going through a bunch of things to get my GTX road worthy. The more we dig, the more it is apparent that the previous owner only showed this car and never drove it. Now we are finding things that my third party inspection never picked up on. Today's craziness, while fixing a very minor problem under the console top plate we discovered that the entire shifter assembly bracket was not mounted to the hump. It seems pretty clear that the floor pans were replaced in the car - they look excellent. But the idiots who did the build only epoxied the bracket onto the hump instead of welding it like it is supposed to be. Of course the epoxy did not hold so the whole assembly was just sitting loose under the console. Probably explains the strange feel when were shifting it previously. We have sense corrected this. But it just blows my mind the half *** way that this was originally restored/replaced.
