Does anyone know if you cash a certified bank check and not deposit it in your checking or personal account, can anyone see that it was cashed say 2 months from when it was cashed?

Your question seems a little odd, but I always thought official bank checks are pulled from your account "right away"..... the only way to reverse that is if you yourself still physically possess the check. Maybe some folks in banking here know more.... bank checks and cashiers checks can become unclaimed funds from what i understand.

You mean a cashiers check? comes from the bank itself and it's not from the person's account so I would think no.
But I'm no banker...

Are we becoming part of some money laundering scheme here??

A couple of things that I know is that I don't trust a check no matter whose name is on it. Just too many fakes out there.

Second, to make counterfeit money look more correct soak it in brewed tea and run it through the clothes dryer.

Trying to prevent IRS from seeing a purchase? I am not a banker, but being they are audited often I am sure it can be traced back

I learn something new on FBBO everyday! Lol

You can cash it on the bank that it is drawn on, assuming that they will cash a check made out in the tens of thousands. Your bank will most likely want you to deposit it.

I'm pretty sure anything over 9999.00 the bank reports to the IRS both directions in or out.
The person that has the draft/ check made and the person that gets it cashed.

You can go to the bank the cashiers check is drawn on or cash it at your bank. A cashiers check is as good as cash. I use them all the time to purchase parts on FBBO because I don’t do PayPal. The check has to be made out in the persons name that you ere sending it to.

$10,000 and it is reported to the IRS.

"Depositing a big amount of cash that is $10,000 or more means your bank or credit union will report it to the federal government. The $10,000 threshold was created as part of the Bank Secrecy Act, passed by Congress in 1970, and adjusted with the Patriot Act in 2002."

The bank made a mistake and deposited large checks from my brother's construction business into his personal account. He got a call from his bank and had to answer some questions. They told him that they had to investigate due to the Patriot Act. The bank found the mistakes and corrected it with no further issues.

I certainly don't have to worry about that happening to me. Here is a pic of me at the bank

I'm asking that if I receive a big certified bank check to my bank and not deposit it. Just cash it. Assuming I have enough funds in my account to cover it..
Can it be traced by another party like a lawyer?

Of course. Anything over $10,000 get's turned into the IRS.

Last time I did a bank check for a car, my bank would only let me draw a small amount like the $5k mentioned. It had to clear for the funds to be ‘mine’. It still amazes me that they can take money in the blink of an eye but it’s days for a check to clear the ‘national bank’.

Everything can be traced. The birds are watching.

Cashiers cks the funds are taken from your account and placed in the banks account to fund said ck.

If you want to know if said ck has been presented to whom its made out to,,,, is call the issuing bank with the number and they can tell you
