Sadly I sold the only Colt I had many years ago. It was a bit worn.....had .005" cl between the wheel and barrel. It was pretty loud but it put on a nice flash show at night lol

Local trucking company owner did the same, only used a safe. Paid cash for his equipment, never trusted banks. Depression guy. It was a major headache for his heirs after he passed, and had to deal with $17 million in cash.

If the old guy didn’t have any cash, then he wouldn’t have caused any problems. They must have hated him for all the trouble he caused.

Exactly. Multiple kids, two who had an interest in the business, and a third who was a black sheep.

It sounds odd, but a lot of young people today (under 40) view cash as inconvenient and pay for most, if not all of their purchases with a credit card.

Well I'm definitely not under 40, but I prefer contactless payment with my phone. That said, about a decade or so ago before that was a thing twice my ATM card details got out into the wild and I had to have my bank void a bunch of fraudulent charges, this was back when my commute had me going to the gas station every day. I went cash only for a year or so after the second time.
Even now, taking yesterday for example, I went to get gas and the machine had an issue where it wasn't taking my phone and rather than keep trying, worried that it was tampered with, I just left and went to the next station up the road. For those wondering why I didn't just go inside, the place always has long lines and its quicker to just go to another station.

My wife uses a debit card for dang near everything....but I'm more of a cash person. I do use a card for certain things like purchases on the net or when I don't have any cash on hand and here lately, gas is 10 cents per for cash verses using a card and the wife averages between 5 and 6 tanks a month.

I go to the same type of stations; one CBi. MA & one in NH. A few bucks here and there adds up.

I usually don't comment unless I have something more to add. In this case I'm just reading and learning. I did withdraw cash for my recent '66 Corvette purchase which was over $10K so I'm sure it got reported to someone. I plan on selling it for substantially more than I paid for it. This car was bought to flip. So, depositing that kind of money into my accounts will cause alarms. My plan is to use those profits to sink into other car projects so the money will be spent. I'll just use cash as advised by a lot of you.

To get the Corvette's 327 running we have had some crazy problems. Mostly related to timing. Normally we can rotate the dist. and get the timing right. The dist. wants to be rotated further than that little vacuum pod will let it because it hits in intake. We took the vacuum pod off to rotate it further to test it and it ran well but showed 20 degrees advanced. We don't know what to do next. Any SBC guys can PM me.

Re-index the wires on the cap.....problem solved.

Lift the distributor up and rotate it another notch or so to get proper timing.

Also make sure you balancer is accurate and didn't slip which would show inaccurate timing.

I’ve never had a problem collecting and spending cash in any amount. However, I do know of people who are paranoid about having cash; my dopey brother-in-law for instance. He sold something years ago and he was paid with seven 100 dollar bills. He called up my wife and told her how scared he was to carry that kind of money on his person.

Distributor is a tooth out of time with the cam gear. Do like post 74 said.

Getting the distributor installed correctly in a small block GM is easy to miss.
