What car were you driving the first time you clocked 100 mph or more?

I was driving my dad's '65 Olds Delta 88, which had a 425 cid V8. It had no trouble getting there. I was 16 at the time and, NO, dad wasn't in the car with me!

Way, way back in the day... Was showing off my 6-bbl road runner to my buddy... slowed down to 95 mph as we flew through a red light. It was an " oh, $h!t ! " < my buddy's exact quote ) moment !!!

I guess my '57 Chevy. I had that kind first; still have one that persuasion.

Since there has been some response, I figure I better put up a pic the rest of you guys.

Don't think I have a pic of the '57 I got when I was 16, it was two toned white and salmon, I always hated that salmon color. Here's a pic of the one Chevy I have kept for all the years. The Mopars don't seem to mind it, it doesn't take up much room.

1964 Dodge Polara 500 when I was 18. Buried the speedometer needle down into the oil pressure guage. Well I hadn't changed the speedometer gear to compensate for the 456 Dana

Easily buried the speedometer back in the day. I cringe when I think about it today and thank the Lord for watching over me back then.

1970 charger, may '70, I95, groton Ct. car 2 months old, 318 a/t, I quit at 110, maybe it had a little more but I chickened out.

I took my dads 70’ Challenger RT for a “joy ride” and went to see Raquel Lopez (smoking hot). On the way home, taking the country roads back, I decided to see what it could. Pushed down on the accelerator, she dropped into second, and just got down to business. Went it hit 130, I let off. Went it got to 90, I started using the manual drum brakes, down to 55 and got home. He still has the Challenger, but now it’s got a 440 stroked to 505 and the 727 is another I found and had rebuilt. The original 383 and 727 is sitting in his garage tucked away and he rotates the engine every so often.

My 1969 Roadrunner, 383 Auto w/air grabber, summer of 1978. I had just rebuilt the engine and after break in I wanted to see what it could do. Chose Airport Road, long and straight two land road, with no stop signs for miles.
Safety first, so I put a motorcycle helmet on (Hey, I was 16) just in case. Speedo was bouncing off 120 about as much as the car was bouncing. It had more but I did not, so I backed it on down. I don't think I ever took a picture of the car but it was post car, like this. But, not like this, mine was a $500 rusted out POS but I liked it. My dad HATED it.

Thanks, she just turned 6 back then. Now she’s 26.

When she was 6, she would say “Make it make that sound!”
That would be wide open throttle of that big ol’double pumper!
Then she tries to imitate the sound as best a six year old can.
She hold her head up like a wolf howling and make a low growling howling sound loud as heck.

The very first car I ever owned @114 mph. The only car to do it in for my 48 yrs of ownership - y 1968 GTX. Sold to a friend 2 years ago.
