Saw a 77 plymouth volare wagon on ebay. Starting bid is 20 grand ? That sounds a bit insane to me.

Yeah, I don't know why but people are asking crazy money for them. I don't know if they are getting it though.

If i had serious coin i would go after a legit mopar muscle car, a wagon would still be cool, but, not for 20k.

Zero bids so far. He might not get any at that price but..................A friend has on e of the Sport Wagons with the fairings and such. Cool car, buckets, console and the like. I could see one go for $20 g's in real nice condition.

Rental cars is all they were good for .

I can see it bringing 10k but not from me.

They had this in 1977. I went to Reedmans with my parents and grabbed a bunch of brochures. This was in one of them. Looks kool!

And I always liked the one year only 1980 front end with the rectangular headlights.

I thought maybe if it was an original Loadrunner which are pretty rare but it’s just a Volare wagon.

Yeah… I like the 1980. Last year for the 360/727. I saw a road runner for sale once but it was a /6. I can’t imagine too many of the Sport Wagon or road runner with the 360 were made. I read it was quicker than the 1980 Corvette L82 in the 1/4 mile. The Vette obviously would out top speed it.

Edit… the 360 was dropped from the F bodies for 1980. I think the article I read about the 360/727 in 1980 was the J bodies, Cordoba and Mirada. The cops could still get the E58 360/727.

Sorry but that 80 square headlight front end works for later cars but looks like a oh **** we can't get round headlights so lets screw up this design.

I think it was more so it didn’t look so dated. The Ford Fairmont and Chevy Nova had similar. The Nova like the Volare was a one year only, 1979. The round sealed beam headlights were used on trucks into the 90’s. And Chrysler put them into Jeeps as late as this 1997 model.

I think motor trend or hot rod tv did an episode on the Volare RRs and Aspen R/Ts that said that they were the fastest American cars of the mid 70s. Faster than the corvettes and firebirds. Interesting fact, Chrysler thought that there would never be dual exhaust cars again so the F-Body was designed with an offset gas tank. The 360 cars have dual exhaust back to the muffler then its a single 3” pipe past the gas tank.

I have 2006 and 2021 Wranglers with round sealed beams.

Back in 1979 I was in a local garage. They were doing an oil change on an almost new 1979 Dodge St. Regis. The cop was complaining about the demise of the 440 big block that had been in his 1978 Monaco. I noticed up on the lift that the E58 360/727 equipped car had a true dual exhaust… dual cats, dual mufflers, dual tailpipes. I remember thinking that was pretty kool for 1979, as GM went to fake duals on the Camaro, Firebird, and Corvette, 1975 on.
