I think this would matter more at the drag strip, with solid traction. But I remember pictures of the AA/SS cars having external oil lines back in old pix at the track. I also remember guys running a Moroso accumulator on the street. What’s your thoughts on this?

BB mopars have been running fine since 1958. There are dozens of oil system mods and upgrades to handle this problem.

OK yes it would be better to have a rear sump but oh well, handle it.

Funny I never blew up my 440 or 383 when I was young and dumb, and we all know how we beat them engines.

Have you got anything from a credible source...
I put it up for discussion. I never spun a bearing. My 440’s have the windage tray and 6 quart pan from the factory. But I never ran slicks, or suspension mods.

I never really thought about it. But it is a valid point if high G force acceleration is involved. Most of us never got to that level on the street. And the tray with the 6 quart pan seemed to work pretty good. Like I said in the OP. I remember Moroso accumulators being mounted in the car, so you could prelube the engine, and they made up for oil pan evacuation.

Tony has painted himself into a corner.
He is obligated to posting a video each day to meet the demand. While some content is good, I think he is often "reaching" for subjects to talk about to maintain a flow of content.

That’s what I’ve heard pretty consistently about BB Mopars myself.

I heard he was threatened at the No Name Drags this year. I didn’t get the whole story but, he stopped doing his Wednesday night live stream. I think it had something to do with that big block Valiant. So now he just puts up instructional vids. I believe he still does his Sunday night question answering show.

I've seen that video.

Remember when i was complaining about no working room and suggested buying a b body with a slant six only? :D
When he said the a body was never meant to recieve a v8 and the b body is just a somewhat upscaled version of the a body it explained at lot for me.
The platform was just never meant for a v8 thus stuff is hard to reach compared to a 70 chevelle ls6 or 71 442 W30 for example.

That of course does not take away from the fact that chrysler engines (especially the 426 hemi) are great and the body styles are second to none.

Yeah but… the LS6 and W30 engine options are not designated in the VIN. A cast crank LS5, that has 2 bolt mains, small port heads, cast iron intake, needs a matching sequence number to authenticate original equipment. On Mopars the matching numbers aren’t as important. Oh wait… :p :)

I think you nailed it. Sometimes he has good info, sometimes it seems his tin foil hat is on too tight

No doubt. Beat them like a red headed stepchild. Tony?

Tony should have talked to the engineers of the hellcat, since they obviously share a fatal flaw... the sump is in the front.

Interesting vid, but I don't think it's the reason chevys are so well supported in the aftermarket. I suspect it was the sheer volume produced and the bigger market cap. I think there were over 100 million sbc's made for example. I think there was far fewer Chrysler engines produced in comparison. I think we all know this, as Mopar aftermarket parts are more expensive than chevy equivalents.

I agree. In 1965, Chevrolet produced over 1 million full size cars. 109,000 were SS Impalas. That isn’t including Chevy II’s and Chevelles.

Having the better product doesn't guarantee that it will be the dominant seller.
Videotape format is one clear example.
Sony created the Beta format which was superior to the VHS product, yet VHS dominated the market.

True. Except for a brief time in the 50's Chrysler was always the number 3 of the big 3. I think VHS grabbed a large enough share earlier on because of the longer record/play times too.
