Citizen uses excessive force......

I wouldn't call that excessive at all.
He did what was necessarily to end the situation.

Now shooting him may have been excessive, but the guy was waving that knife around and did take a swipe at one guy so I guess it depends on in what state this happened.

Don't bring a knife to a display rack fight.

First of all, those are some pretty fancy sweatpants he’s wearing, secondly he’s got some slick dance moves!

Good overhand swing. That fellow could be a lumberjack.

No. That guy was eligible to take some lead for sure! He's waving a knife around. One shot.

....no way that would hold up in court. far too many citizens around to fire at him......gun ownership is a great thing, but there are limits to their use in crowded situations.

I didn't say I would, unless he walked toward me, but I disagree with you. He had a deadly weapon, and if one feared for their life it most certainly would "hold up". "Well, he was going to take a shot at him when the madman approached but was too concerned that he would hit someone else so he allowed himself to be stabbed to death".
REALLY?!

Lady filming "Somebody give the man twenty dollars".... Well Lady why don't you reach into your pocket? Besides, all I got is this here coat rack....

......in this scenario. Not one where he was going after a person.....but still......no matter what happens.....a person who draws a firearm and shoots an innocent bystander....that's a worse case situation.

Lol, yup.....she did the play by play like she saw this kind of crap every day.......which she probably does.

Well , I'm thinking it wasn't excessive if the knife wielding idiot was still breathing . The round steel base probably left a pretty bigmark...

Not excessive force, he is a danger to society.

Too bad the police took so long to get there, we could have seen him on the https://youtube.com/@PoliceActivity channel. People waving knives around don’t last long as they are more dangerous than most think.

Petey, knives are more dangerous than bullets in most cases. Being he was armed with that knife, making threatening gestures, shooting him would meet the "force continuum" the police use. They are by law authorized to use deadly force in cases like this. "Use of force to stop a threat that could cause serious injury or death to persons."

agreed, but in the PR of NY the shooter would most definitely be going to jail.
I've taken a whole bunch of classes on this subject and the exception to every training scenario is New York
