As some of you know, I have been in Idaho for the past several weeks clearing out my brothers possesions since he is now in a nursing home.
As luck would have it my oldest dog ( I just lost one on 1/20) decided to get sick the night before I left. Since that time he has been steadily declining in health.
Today, he crossed the rainbow bridge.
I was supposed to get home last night, but I am stuck in Atlanta until Friday due to my flight getting cancelled. All the flights to anywhere near home were cancelled across all airlines.
When I spoke with my wife this morning she was just getting ready to take him to the vet again. He was too far along at that point to save.

I have now lost my two oldest best friends in the last 32 days. This last one Buddy was totally out of the blue and went down while I was away. I was his favorite person in the world, and I wasn't there when he needed me.

I am heartbroken....

That is terrible. Pets can feel like children to us.

R.I.P. Buddy you were a good boy !

Some pets just fade away fast.
Rocket seemed healthy but within 2 weeks, he lost his appetite and couldn’t eat. An ultrasound detected multiple tumors in his belly and he had to be let go.

That sounds just like Buddy. Very fast, very sad.

We do not know what got him, but it doesnt matter now.

I'm sorry my friend.
I can sympathize with getting stuck out of town at the mercy of the airlines.
Dog years seem to pass much too quickly.

We have had a couple of dogs that hung on too long though. It gets annoying to clean up after a pet that loses feeling and suddenly craps or pees.

I'm sorry for your loss, he was blessed in his life to have a loving and caring family to be a part of.

So sorry, he knew your heart was with him .

It's incredibly hard to lose a pet. My condolences.
COVID prevented me from being with a pet of 19 years when the time came. I still regret it.

I get it. I really do. I feel for you. Keep him in your thoughts.

So sorry for your loss.
Buddy is enjoying paradise and I'm sure he will be waiting patiently for you.
Sometimes I just think quicker is better. I watched my best bud Roscoe deteriorate from cancer for almost a year, that was devastating.
I know I've posted this before, but feel free to paste Buddy's pic on it and print. It will hurt for a long time, but now when I see it I can smile.

Sorry to hear about the losses of your loved ones. I went through the same last year. My wife (SFC, RET) does estate sales and downsizing sales for folks moving to assisted living facilities here in the Boise area. If you need help, PM me. I am all too familiar with these challenges. Todd, SFC, RET as well.

Sorry to hear about losing your kid while you were gone. I had that happen too in 09. It sucks massively not being there for them.
