My buddy is trying to sell me a 62 Dodge Dart. It is missing interior etc. but has the glass, bumpers and so forth. Appears to be complete for the body or at least the lenses etc. are there. Window trim etc. As best that I can tell, it looks pretty complete. I know it is a hard to find car, but no hugely valuable. It seems to be about the only B body I can find that I can afford right now.

It is going to be a slightly crude street and strip car with minimal interior. This is fine, going to use different seats and so forth.

Here is my question:

What body parts are just unobtainium for the car as far as the body or other things go? Mechanical/interior are not a huge worry. I don't know if the heater or wiper system is there and if they are not, I will need to pick up some of them.

Check eBay and forward look.
I think everything will be hard to find. I’m doing a 65 satellite convertible. Interior dash components are nearly impossible to find and really expensive. Wheel opening molding trim nearly impossible. Thank you to Charlie Quarters for having some of the exterior trim I need.

Get the dart cheap because parts are so expensive.

I kinda figured. My main project right now is a 67 Plymouth Barracuda. Lots of one year only parts on that but it is still light years ahead of this Dart.

The other cars I play with I can buy everything, down to detailed glove box parts - new.

I always hunt and buy stuff when I can just to keep for spares.

67 Barracuda is a nice machine. Mopars pre 65 are definitely a challenge to find parts.

I have a 66 Barracuda. The little a bodies are great for zipping around. I drive it almost everyday. 273/auto.

this one should have a lot of parts you may be looking for. pm me if interested in it or a complete ready to race one.

Not any reproduction parts like fenders, chrome ect but there's always a parts car out there if you look hard enough. I bought quite a few parts on here and ebay. If I found a better piece than what was on the car I would buy it.
Mechanical parts can be the same as newer models for a few exceptions. I wasn't afraid working on the one I have.

AMD stopped making floorpans, any metal would be nos or rust free donor.

Parts are difficult but not impossible to find. I bought 2 parts cars to aid in my hunt for parts, but still sourced other bits from here and ebay.
Funny, I have the same 2 cars.

you would be surprised at how hard it is to get rid of stuff when you are in the middle of nowhere. even if its free
The only place in Montana that I have stayed at, and spent a little time in is Lewistown. I remember thinking that it was way out there. I live approximately 2 hours from a few cities with 100K people, and about 5 hours from Sacramento. I can't sell anything.....too far. I joke that I go 100 miles (roundtrip) to get food. I am out there, and I get what you're saying. But you are really out there.....I am jealous.

I agree. Before long I will have all that I need. I'm pretty good at scavenging and shopping. The car is a NV car and is not rotten or anything. Decent paint. It looks like it will need a front bumper but otherwise I think the big stuff is there. I like the cars alot, but if it turned into a total redo with quarters etc. I wouldn't buy it.

that seems to be my problem getting rid of anything, not close to anybody.
To have it shipped would be too expensive
20 Years ago I would take my trailer and be on the road in no time.
Went to Boise Idaho and back in 5 days back in 2005, no problem
Nowadays I am lucky I can make it to Carlisle in July
Getting old sucks

I did discover that the Sled City Fiberglass bumpers are available for $450 a set. No idea on quality, but there is that.
