Even when the Superbird was available, Richard Petty still preferred the regular road runner for the short tracks where the maximum speed was a lot less than the super speedways. It was easier to maneuver in tight traffic with the shorter nose.

So...those "aero" torinos were basically the same shape as the 66/67 Charger.

I don't recall hearing about them being super slippery.
