You might have a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon motor.

They all look pretty much like that in finish.

Maybe it was twisted, and someone removed it because it was ugly....or relocated it out of view in that picture.

The barn red paint is to insulate those connections and your is worn off and exposing the connections. It will work fine but don't short it out.

yes the ground is gone and it needs one.

do your wipers work ok?

I have yet to fire up the electronics on the car. Once I have the engine out and to the machine shop I'll start to focus on the electronics as I know there will be issues. I'll check to see if the ground is there.
