Yeah, I can remember reading that article, and probably have a reprint of it here somewhere. That article had a major effect on me, resulting in my buying a new 1969 Sunfire Yellow SuperBee almost 55 years ago ( February 10, 1969). Thanks.
The one that occasionally keeps me awake at night is the one-owner 1967 440, 4-speed GTX with stuck motor for $250.00. About 1978, when nobody wanted these old gas guzzlers. The seller, who I worked with, backed out of the deal because his wife's brother wanted it. Then I had to watch it degrade over the next 10 years until it was a parts car. Sad!
I have a couple of 1967 magazine drive tests ( I think Motor Trend and Car Craft ) of a Hemi Coronet 500. The car was white with a black vinyl top. Since these car magazines were based in California, I think this car was likely assembled at the Los Angeles plant. This is another car that should never have been built, since the Hemi was supposedly only available in R/T and Charger in 1967.I still occasionally pine for the $500 1967 Hemi Satellite they said they didn't build, and then later admitted to.
I think the B.J.'s would be more interesting!
