It's too bad that VW didn't put a Porche six cylinder engine into these.

That's what my neighbor said about his 912 Porsche. It was a 4 cylinder, but looked like a 911. My 240Z would smoke it till we got deep into tight turns. That thing cornered like it was on rails, while my 240Z would wash out and around I'd go. As far as I'm concerned, nothing corners like a 911 or 912. 911's pull harder, much harder than a 912.
 
It is odd to see an original photo of a 1967 Coronet with the optional bumperettes installed beside the reverse lights. Most of them were bolted to the other bumper attachment hole near the outer end of the bumper. Most people think they look stupid there, and move them inward as shown, during a restoration. I know I did with my 1967 R/T

I believe the 66s looked good, but they had a separate hole requiring 2 different bumpers. So in 67 they used existing holes instead to streamline parts
