They had some bad quality problems some years ago - mostly on cars manufactured in the US. Their minivan (Quest?) was a reliability nightmare. But I’ve driven a few recent Nissan rentals lately and they seem to be pretty good vehicles and I thought there has been a resurgence in popularity of the Titan and Armada lately, but maybe I’m mistaken.

The comment about Stellantis may not be too far off. There have been rumors lately on the RAM forum the Stellantis might purchase the Titan V8 to put in the RAM due to the unpopularity of the new turbo 6. It would surprise me but I guess since both companies are having issues - who knows.

Nissan pickups are a very rare sight nowadays, but there is a sprinkling of Armadas around the area.

The hell with them, and honestly, any and all automakers. The system, as it has been for many, many years, is to peddle their products through the worst form of life on the planet... dealerships. When you have to go to scumbags to buy something, you're already behind the eightball. Then, price the product way beyond the reach of most people. Load up all the vehicles with useless gadgets that many people don't want; used to be if you wanted a luxury item, you bought a luxury car. Somebody tell me where can one go to buy a simple, reliable, no-frills vehicle, whether it be a car or truck, for a reasonable price... at a place where they don't try to rip you pants off as soon as you walk through the door.

You can a cheap reliable car outside of the US. The problem here is the insurance companies basically regulate what is required to build a car. Everything from 15 mph bumpers, third brake lights and back up cameras are the result of insurance companies.

I've had a 21 titan for 3 years almost turning 70k miles, zero issues so far, its got the v8, runs good not as good as my last ram trucks I've owned, but this truck doesnt vibrate, engine light coming on and electrical issues like my last 2 rams. I tried to stay loyal to Dodge but buying a truck that a dealer can't fix and get treated like **** too. f'em. I'll stick with pre 2018 dodge or the rice burners. no more new 50k plus trucks for me

They loaded the vehicles up with mostly useless electronics, miles of wiring, thousands of connections, computers and processors you need their proprietary software to troubleshoot. They developed a CVT metal belt drive transmission that is cheap to build, and used the consumers to test it and find out they might get 50-80K miles out of it if they are lucky. I say screw em too. If they can not just provide a simple reliable affordable vehicle then they deserve to dry up and blow away.

Well, I ain't moving anytime soon. And as true as it is, what you correctly mention isn't all of it. I don't need the car to yell at me when my eyeballs look sideways. All these vehicles are OVER-GADGETIZED. And you need instructions as to what screen/button/whatever to figure out how to work/adjust things. I want to buy a truck to do what it's intended = work. Without 50-way power leather seats, power-everything, foot warmer, huge tv screen, cameras/lights/doo-dads that are better suited for a Mars explorer, etc.etc. A reliable engine, standard transmission, regular cab, a simple bed without a tailgate that comes apart like a transformer-toy, steel wheels, etc. In other words, a truck that is meant to get dirty ! With a price the average Joe can afford.

Actually that’s what a lot of us asked in response to the RAM Forum thread. The whole thing then prompted a response that RAM has converted their engine lines over to the turbo 6 and the tooling for the 5.7 Hemi is gone (but not the 6.4?) - thus the Titan V8 scenario. A lot of us were questioning this too. It may all just be a fake-news story.

Never really liked many Datsuns or Nissans
I did have a Datsun 1600 1968 sports car was a fun lil' car
underpowered but handled great, silver & black convertible

I had a 74 (IIRC P20 ?) lil' Datsun PU std cab short bed, in the early 80's
my stepdad loved it, so I gave it to him after doing a bunch of lil' items on it
all new weather striping & rubber, sealed the leaky valve-cover, checked the valves
new clutch/pressure plate & disc, new brakes, filters etc.
my best friend was the Concord Nissan Parts Mngr
so I got stuff at a great price & the right stuff, easy to work on too

Drove a Pathfinder for a time, as a demo/loaner
from the dealership group I worked with
POS IMO looked nice, mid 90s, sucked going up to Tahoe, had no power
& it had the big v6

I've never seen a 15 mph bumper, that would be massive. In the 1970s they mandated 5mph bumpers and those looked like chromed railroad tracks. But today's bumper regulations only mention 2.5 mph impact protection - it turns out the insurance companies had to pay more to fix those big bumpers once they were damaged than they were saving.

49 CFR Part 581, “The bumper standard,” prescribes performance requirements for passenger cars in low-speed front and rear collisions. It applies to front and rear bumpers on passenger cars to prevent the damage to the car body and safety related equipment at barrier impact speeds of 2½ mph across the full width and 1½ mph on the corners.

Ha, ha... didn't notice the "15 mph" ( should be 5mph )... but I wouldn't be surprised with these ugly behemoths. I used to stand on them to work in the engine bay.
