Went antiquing and for a cruise, all in one swift move!! LOL. A ton of old folks remembering Cora from days gone by. They get a big kick out of it and I get a kick out of watching them, watch her. It was a win for us classic guys when a guy in this newer Camaro stops and stares at it like he's wishing.

My Coronet has been down for 2-1/4 years due to brake issues that I can't seem to fix. That changes tomorrow. It is going to a friend's hot rod shop to get it fixed right. I don't have a hoist to get under the beast. I've got a decent idea of what's wrong. It'll stop, but barely. I want to drive it again without needing six blocks to plan the next stop! Once she's done, I'll advise on the success with a drive home!

The "Brine Solution" they've been using, the last few years, Really Attacks the Underside's of our vehicles. It's kinda like someone Doesn't want our "Older" Rides to Last ???

Probably mag chloride or calcium chloride, both are more destructive than sodium chloride (salt) and have strong wicking and moisture attracting properties. I believe exposure to those chemicals would cause serious problems for a vintage car. I won't even take my fun cars on the road until we've had some serious spring rains to wash it away...

Don't think it has anything to do with older vehicles.. here in detroit the salt eats old and new alike.... my old car doesn't see the road til theres no salt left... And the amount of salt this year has been nuts

We've had the most snow I've seen in years, 12 inches at one time. I'm always out and about, but it's been weeks. The roads should clean enough in the next week or so. The cold doesn't bother me or Cora, it's the salt dust that I don't like and I'll wait for it to wash away.

Agree to that. I was referring to all our rides also. We just updated my wife's 2014 Cherokee, as it was showing it's age on the underside, and my driver, a '99, is really getting crusty, and needing some work, both mechanical, and cosmetic. We just got down South, so I may look for a replacement for it...

Won't drive them until mid March or so. The roads people love rocksalt and brine and the crews love to spread it. It pays overtime. Sometimes it looks like they paint the road surface white

We just got down South, so I may look for a replacement for it...

yeah, my 2018 grand cherokee is starting to show it's age a bit underneith i love the thing but i know how this works... not sure what i will buy next time..

In central OK, they use a combination. First, they pre-treat the roads with beet juice. Then, the salt/sand mix goes over that. I don't drive the old cars much in Winter, anyway. As soon as the slick roads are a threat, the oldies stay safe in the shop. Once the roads are cleaned up by the rains, it's all good.

Took a cruise around some local small towns, damn climate change had to go for a cruise in January
