Agreed! Even to this day ours or any of our kids vehicles don't leave the yard for a trip without a full brake reservoir, radiator res, oil and windshield washer check.
As for the picture, his is up to put the trailering mirrors on...

After looking closer, could it be as early as 57. About 1962 a fellow came back to our hometown with one,I think it might have been a 58.
