Looking for a definitive answer : what is the correct original finish for the rear leaf springs on a 67 B-body big block , natural steel or black ?

I did my semi-gloss black.

Chassis black, about the same as a semi-gloss, or satin black.

On my car (67 Satellite), I found no traces of any paint on the leaf springs, so based on my experience, they came from the factory unpainted (aka natural steel).

These were the originals off my 66 next to the mopar performance replacements.
They appear to have had some black paint originally.

I always suspected they were bare metal originally. Still not sure. Rust is a bad look ANYWHERE, so when I get new leafs I always paint them well. Satin black.

Depended on whom the supplier of the week was. Plain rolled steel or dipped in Black paint.
