According to my spouse, I tend to purposely do things the hard way. She found a one-panel comic that demonstrates this perfectly: picture a mechanic checking the oil level in a vehicle while standing on a ladder because he first raised the car all the way up on the lift-than's me in a nutshell.

If anyone can find this original comic, please send it to me (I remember seeing it decades ago, probably in a newspaper). Meanwhile, enjoy a good laugh. Thank you.

Even though I've done stuff similar to that....I wouldn't get a ladder but would just let the car back down. My main problem is laying something down and forgetting where I put it. Do that way too often.

There's a long joke about doing things the hard way. I don't remember the whole joke, but the punchline was "standing up....in a canoe".

I tell my kids that our last name means “has to do things the hard way” in Polish. They continue to prove me right.
