1969 Road Runner preservation

Receive the first two tags ever used on the Road Runner. The white ones were only on for the first year. The blue tags was when Maryland changed to a sticker and those tags were used for five years. I will get the white tags re-registered to the car. It will be very cool to have the car back on the road with its original tag.
Thanks
Pat

I hate to break it to you, but going by the picture you didn’t see a roadrunner either
Travis..

I sent all the original wheel cylinders out to be rebuilt, and then had the brake drums turned. Not sure their original drums? I used Eastwood’s Fast Etch to remove the rust and then coded everything in Sharkhide. Not sure I like the red drums with the green paint looks a little Christmasy;-) that may be why the original owner painted the drums black.

Instead of using that high priced Eastwood prep, go to Home Depot and get a gallon of Klean Strip Concrete and metal prep.

How well does that clean strip work? Just curious if it’s as good as other rust removers.

It's Phosphoric acid. Think of it as a concentrated DuPont Metal prep. I used it to "Phosphetize" my engine compartment
beffore I applied the epoxy primer. It leaves a rainbow looking finish. You apply it and scrub it in with a scotch brite pad
and then rinse and blow it off & dry the surface. Then immediately apply the primer.

Fun night with good friends! Something about putting an engine back in a car takes you back to your teenage years. Cool stuff!

HEY, if it was your teenage years you'd be arguing about whether you could stuff it down in trans and all with the hood on and no load leveler!! LOL

Awesome. That looks more surgical than any engine install I’ve ever done. I think I’d be pretty careful with that car too. Although my swivel hook on my cherry picker lets me do engines without hood removal, trans n all.
Travis..

Yea with 12qt of trans oil poring out the tail shaft, been then there done that 44 years ago;-)

Could you post a pic of that setup? I don't think I've ever seen one.

Good stuff, but I have to ask why no water pump on it?

Years ago, I bought a couple of Ray Barton engines and they came with a nice engine cradle, but it required the water pump off to hold the engine. I added the casters and it’s only the second time I’ve used it so it justified me keeping it all these years;-)
Thanks
Pat

Looking for a picture of the correct location and orientation of this transmission cooling line bracket that bolts to the driver side transmission.
Thanks
