What kind of spray paint leaves a factory black look on a Mopar steel dash and steering column.thanks for brand and color name you recommend.

I used SEM Trim black. A quart will go along ways! Used it on the dash, blacked out the core support, steering column and the hood call outs!

SEM trim black on both my 71 and 74 as well.

What year ?? If you want to duplicate the "suede" finish in black , THIS is the stuff:

Go with 2 part system PPG with textured additive. First is 2 p0art epoxy spray then light sand. Follow with adhesion promoter then PPG Flat 2 part and add the powder txture additive. The spray bomb stuff is too fragile and wears off fast. Avoid. Once you apply the 2 part ppg then apply 3 coats of 2 part low gloss clear rememmber to use Hardner for a professional job like just dashes would do.

I did an e-body dash using a combo of SEM products and the Rustoleum textured black pictured above. SEM self-etching black primer followed by a very light fogging with the textured black, then top coated with SEM Trim Black. Great results. SEM paints go on really well and are easy to use.

Steering column gloss levels changed over the years so the model year matters.
