And replaced it with diesel....so far, I like the change!

I'm a mineral spirits guy all the way. Why the change? I hate the smell of diesel, personally.

Yeah I like mineral spirits. Looks like I need to replace the barrel after 30 years, starting to dribble on the floor.
Exactly what is dribbling? You may need to visit a doctor..
the smell of both diesel fuel and diesel exhaust make me want to puke........I have no desire for a diesel truck, and I tolerate my oil fired shop heat
The bottom of the barrel is developing pin holes. My personal dribbling is a whole different thread.

The transmission shops here love Mineral Spirits and the hotter the better.

I'm going to try to sore an older, non Cal compliant, washer on one of the next auctions I see. There was a nice Greymills unit but it was on a 55 gal drum. Too big for me. I'll try to find one on a 30. I do see that mineral spirits is more per gallon than diesel or kerosene. Does MS throw off less fumes than the others? I for sure don't want water based. Useless as mammaries on a male pig.
I have been using Safety Kleen in my wash tank for maybe 40 years now. They take the old, clean out the sludge, and pump in the new. I don't change it very often as I do not rebuild transmissions like I used to. I changed the solvent last year and the previous batch lasted 14 years. At $600.00 cost, it averaged out at less than $43.00/year and it will last until I die. I'm good with that! My tank holds 35 gallons and the original pump was shot when I inherited the unit from my dad-it was under the eave at his shop, full of water. I purchased a Dayton submersible pump in 1973 and it works like new every time I flip the switch.

We used Ashland 140 in our Graymills washers at the plant, I understand it was basically diesel fuel WITHOUT the smell. Worked great, but when I tried to buy a drum for my personal shop use it was over $600 bucks, too much for me.
