Exhaust manifold

1973 roadrunner 318, front left exhaust bolt is broke off. Took car to a shop to have it removed and shop called and said when he removed the rear bolt on the driver's side water started leaking so he put the bolt back and called to inform me that the head is probably cracked. From my research both rear and front thread into water jackets, wouldn't this be normal? Thanks

They should be studs not bolts.
