my charger has it's original pearl white top, and it's cracked badly, starting the dreaded rust bubbles above the windshield and back window.
if i can find someone around here that can replace it and do a good job, i am figuring to get it done.
as this car will never be restored by me, i am contemplating a color change.
i don't really want to do a black top, as i believe it will be much hotter in the interior during the summer.
what about that tan color top ?
opinions/advice on this ?
thanks in advance !

Given the car's current color scheme, I'd go with black. I guess the tan would go with the orange and the interior, but all those big black stripes would look good with a black top IMHO. However - be prepared for needing to remove the front and rear windows, repair the metal in the channels, re-install (maybe replace?) some glass and then the installation of the new top. It's never one thing with these cars!

Awesome car, by the way!

I think black would be too much black.
i was thinking the same thing, that's why i was wondering about the tan top.
i wished i had photo chop so i could get an idea what the different top colors would look like.
can anyone help me with that ?
TIA if it's possible !

There's a member on here with a similar orange car with a tan vinyl top, it's a nice build but that combo doesn't do it for me.

These are quick and dirty - total garbage, really - but hopefully helpful?

It will need rust repair done with the bubbling underneath.

Color? I'd go white.

Here is a tan top, not good to my eye

I always vote no vinyl top on a 2ND Gen. However, I have owned more Chargers with tops than without, so they have grown on me over the years. In your case for your car, I vote black.

Or after doing the inevitable bodywork, why not paint it tan for a while, then black? Or paint half black and half tan! Then cover it with your color of choice.

We have a local guy with a 68 Lemans that he painted to roof with bedliner or under coating or something for the texture. Unless you really know what to look for at first it does look like a vinyl top with all of the moldings installed.

The OP's car will be more esthetically balanced with the top painted body color. Anything else competes with the black down the sides and on the hood. Don't put a vinyl top back on the car.

Vinyl tops.
I almost didn't buy my EB5 blue 1970 Charger back in 1985 because it had a vinyl top. I hate vinyl tops, but it will get a new black vinyl top some day in the future.

Now you know where I stand on vinyl tops.

Here is another one, not a good look. Is that why it's parked next to that loud background to take your eyes off the top? This is a for sale vehicle I saw out on the web.

A tan colored roof, IMO, doesn't look good on anything except maybe a dark British racing green or dark red or burgundy.
