Who's B-body is that? Claim it! Carlisle 2025

Is that just the paint that makes the center of hood raised? 3D looks cool.

Looked that car over. That was an additional piece on the hood. The front features an opening between the original sheet metal and the added piece, hood scoop style. Hood was not open. Don't know of it's functionality.

I have a real soft spot for '68 B-bodies.
Those (2) you posted certainly hit that spot.
& 1968 A-body too, GTS/383 4bbl or Dart GT & Barracuda Formula S fastbacks/383 4bbl 4 speeds
But the 68 Charger R/T & 68 Road Runner (w/decore package & panel)
are 2 of my favorite cars (68-70 era)
I've had 12 Chargers (only 8 were 68's/7 were 4 speeds) all R/Ts
& 13 RRs respectively (only 8 were 68's, most 4 speeds/3 TF727)
The 68 Charger R/T hands down the best looking car ever, best rear tail-lites,
best profile by far & best (lil' round) marker-lites & gas cap
& most were some shade of greens or blues

If the Demonstrator hadn't crossed my path in 1969, I would have been squarely in your camp with a green '68 Charger R/T. I remember telling Bill Clark that it was his particular car that pushed my buttons, rather than GTXs as a whole. I retreated toward my initial preferences when I bought the green Hemi GTX. By that time the Chargers were already priced beyond my reach.

I love checking out custom touches like this. Talented people. Thanks

They just seemed to find me, I'm was just fortunate maybe
(I was car broke too)
when I was younger & living in Concord, Pleasant Hill & Antioch
(I had 5 Charger R/Ts a the same time, when I still lived a parents home)
anywhere from like $500-$1500, a few were a bit more,
(my 1st 68 Charger R/T 69k miles was $350, July 11th 1974, day before I turned 15)
all usually with less than 100k miles, decent interiors, relatively straight
& decent paint/trim, grills etc...

how could you not buy them ?

My first trip to California, in 1981, I was in awe of how many nice ones were still on the road. By that time, just about everything in the Pennsylvania snow belt was turning to rust particles. Any Mopar that survived that long in that environment had a unique story of shelter and maintenance.

I looked that car over as well. I really liked the hood scoop and the car over all was excellent. HOWEVER, it is hard to believe the same guy that did all those tasteful mods and color slections, mounted a gawdawful big a$$ tach in the middle of the hood. You'd have to be far sighted like Mr. Magoo to see the numbers. What an insane thing to do. /end rant.

Mine really more than likely was the gas guzzlers era, & the 55 saves lives crap
people freaked out with the gas going from $0.29 cents a gallon reg leaded
to $0.59 cents a gal, they were dumping mostly stock gas guzzlers like crazy
cars with big V8s, gas went even more nuts when it went to or near $0.99 for reg.
out here in Calif.

But not much rust issues unless in the mountains, a lot of snow
(the car lives outside) no salt on the roads used here,
or on the coast (salt air)

We still saw a lot of cool cars on the hwys & streets,
it is or was a car culture state still, cruising was a huge deal
it was mostly the younger crowd, buying cheaper/used cars 7-10+ years old or more
just didn't demand the big $$s, & an over abundance of them here, still on the road

People here were buying lil' compacts/mostly all Japanese cars Honda's
they couldn't keep Honda's or Toyota's on the lots here,
our 2 Concord Pontiac Dealers
turned to into Concord Honda/Pontiac & Concord Toyota (was Meridian Pontiac)
The local Buick dealership became Concord Datsun/Nissan
& Corolla's or Datsun 510's & VW's, dumping American V8 especially muscle-car era, cheap
(I liked some earlier VWs Bugs, Baja Bugs, Manx Dune buggies)
IMO partially the insurance industry was making hard to own a car, dbl'd the rates
with 335-375+ hp as a teen or especially 'a young unmarried male'
there was an abundance of killer muscle-car era cars, on the market, cheaper

I looked inside the gap between the original hood and the added on piece. I could see the air filter. I think it was done for added clearance.

I'm sure it's functional.
We've met and talked with him several times over the years it's a purpose built car for the autocross.
That feature is new since last year.
