Is it a oem style or aftermarket like a wilwood ect ?

If it isn't some high tech polished aluminum thing and looks like a master cyl. I would put it in the vice and bleed it.

Found a Dorman part # M36218 New not rebuilt.

I just got a new MC from NAPA that said not to bench bleed . Said it would damage it internal . I bench bled it with no problems . This was on a 64 fury with pb.

What happens is folks push the piston too deep and damage the seals. When it’s mounted on the vehicle you can not over shoot it.

I did think the spring will let the seal go that far and bottom out. But maybe it could.

I haven’t bench bled a MC in a long time. Install and bleed with the pedal. The air will eventually all come out.

Thats what the written directions said. Only depress the piston not more than 1 inch.
I'll probably bench it and be careful. Waiting for the rear brake hose to arrive. I did inline tube for a complete metal line set.

Maybe the manufacturers have decided to remove the idiot factor because of the high number of returns from inexperienced people incorrectly bench-bleeding their products.
Making it just a bolt-on part takes away the chances of destroying the Master Cylinder.

Just my opinion of course.

I think it’s more of this idiot-based, CYA, crap manufacturers are plastering on anything & everything to cover even the most remote chance of something going wrong, so don’t sue us when it does because we told you not to do that. Don't use DOT5, don’t bench bleed, this product has been found to contain products that can cause cancer in CA. It’s all stupid ****.
