Drivers side remote mirror, different mounts on B Body?

Factory 66 and 67 mirrors are in the same location on both sides.

...and I have proof.
My question is, were the mirrors installed at the factory before shipment? Or did the dealership install them? A very knowledgeable friend who has his original 66 Charger sent me his measurements of the passenger side mirror, and it was different from the driver’s side.
I have read that some people don’t find the passenger side mirror very useful.
He was working on wiring etc for these cars before some of our members weren’t even a gleam in their father’s eye.
Do not intend a who said she said.

1967 wagons all has pass side mirrors from the factory. they are in the exact same position as the driver's side.

IMO, the main issue regarding "lack of useful visibility" is the "standard" glass that is not curved, like today's "objects in mirror are closer than they appear", wide vision mirrors.

This glass can actually be added. It's relatively easy to find, as it's a simple circle for 66/67.
I actually don't care about that and have no problem using a flat glass pass side mirror.

Aiming them at the blind spot, and not down the body line is another issue.
You WANT to see the blind spot, not the side of your own car.

I am seeing two different mounting styles on 67-70 B Body. One style is, looking front to back, mounting stud then control cables then sheet metal mounting screw. The other style is control cable then mounting stud then sheet metal mounting screw. Has anyone seen the difference I am describing in the outside remote mirror mounting? Thanks Jim
The mounting holes in the door for my original non-remote door mirror on my '69 Charger and for the remote mirror I salvaged from a junkyard '69 are the same, as are the attachment studs and screws.

I've used the SAE trick since I first heard about it. Tilt your head all the way to the left (almost touching glass.) Adjust the driver's mirror so you  just see the side of the car in the right side of the mirror. Tilt your body all the way to the right the same amount. Adjust passenger mirror the same.

A little more effective the bigger the mirror, so harder with our classics... It works awesome! Not a replacement for checking before turning, etc. but has saved my bacon many times, esp. when people pace you just a bit ahead of your blind spot.

And you don't get blinded by all those LED/HID-brighter-than-the-$@&!$!!-Sun headlights at night!

But it takes getting used to. Can't see whose behind you. Have to use your rear view for that.
