Hello, I am looking to do a little something different with the tire and wheel combo on my Charger. Currently, running black 18" wheels with low profile tires because thats all you can get on the 18s. id like to go with the Cragar 342 D window wheels and BFG Radial T/A with RWL. should i do the standard 15" or try for 16"? Id like to do an 8" wide front wheel and a 10" wide rear wheel.

any advice on this and what size tire or size Cragar wheel? Wheels in question:

and going on this car.

My apologies but I don't understand the fascination with black rims?
Please edumacate me.

Back when I was younger black rims were only used for winter tires.
Cragars or polished aluminum rims were in style for a long time till the OEM's started selling cars with black rims.

Naked steeelies don't work for me, I prefer the hubcap look.
But of course , it's your car, go with what YOU like.
My advice is to avoid 16" wheels like the plague. Tires are hard to find now, expensive for performance versions, and availability will only get worse.
If you look into the more suv-like 18s, you can find taller versions. Just look for some that look more like performance tread designs.
And, I would look at Cooper Cobras WAY before I'd buy T/A's. Better tire, probably forty bucks cheaper each.

basically its the theme of the car, bumpers and chrome were done in black. if i had more chrome, i wouldn't go for black wheels

I agree. I have a set of modified Police car wheels, 16 x 10 for the rear and 16 x 7 for the front.
Finding tires for the rear in a 295-50-16 is impossible if you want a street tire with tread. I've found "DOT approved" slicks with very small holes but I'd never want to drive on those if it rained. The 16 x 7 size could accommodate a 245 or 255 50 but it is the 10" rear wheel that is the hard part.
Your 18s look fine to me. The tire availability is excellent too. Why change from those?

i dont know, just would like to try a look with more rubber on the circle. something with a more traditional sidewall ratio. dont get me wrong, i like the look of what i have, but maybe a little change in stance is something i would like to try.

well, going with a 15" wheel would be cool, its easier to get for the lug pattern.

i do really like the D Windows. a little nascar-ish look.

the 15x8's i can get a 4" backspace, and i think in the 15x10, i can get a 4.0" and a 4.25" backspace.

should be enough? i need to measure the BS on my current wheels.

The D wheels have a NASCAR look? They do have that.
I have 18" wheels on mine....

I can't run a wheel smaller than a 17 due to the front brakes. I wouldn't anyway. I love the look of the wheels and tires.
The 15s mean a much taller sidewall and more tire squirm in the turns. No thanks!
My wheels have a 4 3/4" back spacing. The rears are about an inch from the wheel well flange. If you go with a different wheel, I'd aim for at least 4 1/4" of back spacing, otherwise, it will rub the body.

i will also have to measure my outside disc brake calipers. they are relatively small, so it might work. then again, maybe not.

if i need to stick with 18's, i would like to try these, with the grey anthracite color.

I would stay away from any ten inch wheel that doesn't have AT LEAST 5" of backspace. And I like at least 4.5" bs for an 8/8.5 wheel.
Any less is a pickup truck wheel.

I recently did this and used a similar wheel from Black Rock, the rears are 15x8 with 3.75 bs with 275-50 coopers
And the fronts are 15x8 with 4.00 bs with 235s that will be replaced with either 245 or 255 at some point. Plenty of room front and back
