Every day when I wake up, I hope beyond logic for some of this bucket full of pain to ease up some,
just for a while...
I get disappointed a lot.

Every day when I read the news, I look/hope for reasons to be optimistic about this world,
this country, this county...
I get disappointed a lot.

Every day as I go all over Gods' creation, I always expect everyone to be good people - friendly.
Kindred souls, polite and courteous.
I get disappointed a lot....

Every day I expect myself to be the same, not just because it's a good way to be in this world,
but because it's the right thing to do and it helps the drudgery of the day pass by easier.
Well, to be honest...
I get disappointed a lot there, too.

Every day I expect those few I've actually allowed into my ring of trust to have my back, just as
I have committed to having theirs.
I have been SEVERELY disappointed there, more than a few times, too.

All this doesn't mean I won't get up tomorrow morning looking for the same dang things....
because there's no point to the whole "living" exercise if I don't - and mama raised me properly, too.
So yeah, I've gotten used to disappointment in this life - because I understand it's par for the course.

My dad used to say.... "There's only two people I trust, and that's myself and your mother, and I'm not too sure about her."

get a pair and get over it !

Go to bed expecting to be disappointed in the morning and all will be good.

Oh yeah, I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in. Man, someone should write a song about that.

We all go through our lives often unaware of the troubles that others are living with.
I don’t know Ed well but he sure doesn’t seem like the type to wallow in self pity so there is something more going on here.
I do know that pain and stress can affect your mood and outlook.
I hope that it is simple and treatable as that.

You know Ed, sometimes it's not what's coming your way, but the path you've traveled, to get to where you are today. Think back to all the positives you've received in your life, and the ones you've helped others achieve. You sound like a lot of us, that are hitting the time of our lives that we should be about where we expected to get to, and those big goals accomplished, should be enough to get us to the finish. Just remember, as bad, or down as it seems, there's a Lot of folks who would trade everything to be in your shoes. We all hit the same finish line at some point, so it's better to be set, ready, and Right, when that time comes. I don't think anyone has been promised it will get better every day, until the end, and there's Only One that knows when that will be. Make the Best of it, and Be Thankful for Every Day.
Jmo, with some Help from Above...

Here's my suggestion and I apologize if I sound preachy but I do believe this will help.

Pray for:
1. Your family
2. Your friends neighbors and local community
3. Our Country
4. Our World

Finally pray for yourself, you may not get the answers you want and you may not get them right away.
But if you listen closely the answers you receive will be the right ones.

Look up Numbers 6:24-26.

I've realized that there are good, and there are bad. Everyone gets a chance to disappoint me.
Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised.

Make another list Ed, of all the things that please you.
Your loving wife, your home and land, your GTX, the sun on your face, all the good things.
You might be pleasantly surprised.

Hope you feel better soon.

The key to happiness is low expectations.
Would that I could, brother. Afraid I'm not wired like that and all attempts to adjust to such a state have failed.
Guess that's another self-disappointment. :)

get a pair and get over it !
I've been dead three times, beat cancer six times and survived **** the docs can't even explain.
My testicle size is just fine - and unlike you, they're attached to a human with at least a few redeeming qualities.

Greg, I'll let you in on a secret here - I wrote this originally in 2014. :)
Like so many other humanoids on the planet, I've seen some serious **** in the interim since (serious as it gets)
so no, self-pity done left the station several years ago.

You're right about one thing, though - there's certainly more than what's on the surface going on here right now.
Appreciate the kind words as always, my friend.

Been up and down Prayer Avenue for many a year now, Don. I am familiar...
It's not that, thanks all the same.
(I will admit to one failing in that department though - I've never been able to treat prayer as
sort of a drive-thru ordering system for myself. Never thought that to be prudent...)

A friend posted on face book the other day "As long as God keeps waking you up, he still has a plan for you".

You're simply asking for help.
In a way it seems like that's what's going on here?
So who can help you more, I think you know the answer.

Very grateful for everything of course. Written about it many a time sir...
Wasn't really the point of the post.
References to Doc in "Tombstone" aside, what's at play here is more my approach towards what has been
the goal these last handful of years - a settling of accounts, if you will.
A reckoning... because it's about that time now.
