Hi everyone I have a 70 coronet tested fuel gauge sending unit and the ground all tested out ok according to the specs there is 4 gallons in the tank currently gauge isn’t reading anything any suggestions?

What specs are you referring to and is this an original sending unit or after market. Mine is aftermartket. I have the tank and sending unit out of the car. The pickup tube was an inch off the bottom of the tank. The gage always seemed to read 3/4. I adjusted the suction tube to rest on the botom of the tank. The float doesn't go that low so tomorrow im going to see how many gallans are between the suction tube and the float. I bought a meter match to cal the gage to the gage empty and full to the gage.

If you wouldn't mind, would you say where you got the sending unit. Seems to be a lot of members whohave the same problem with the aftermarket ones. I'm very sure I got mine from Vans auto and it reads just fine. I'm going to go back and find the receipt for mine and if it is from some other company, I will post a correction.

Factory manual aftermarket sending unit

The one i installed was an oer MF445 fron summit racing. I heard about the vans unit after i bought this one. The original had been replaced years ago by me. I replaced it years ago not sure the brand or manufacture. I've had the car 25+ years.
I had already bought this one when I heard about the vans unit.

I still have everything apart. So if anyone wants pics, measurements or meter readings. Let me know.

Here's a pic with the sender installed in the tank. The bend in the sock is where it touches the bottom of the tank. This unit has a 1/2 pickup tube. From the pick im guessing about 1/2 to 3/4 between the bottom of the tank and the bottom of the float.

This is a stock image of the one i installed. 1/2 tube 1/4 return. Tweaked in a vice until it touched the bottom of the tank as shown in previous post.
