Who thinks like this?
You look and look for the car that you want, you find one and go through the trouble to get it just how you like it…then get bored and sell it ?
That just ain’t me, man. I’m keeping this car:

I don’t drive it as much as I should but I love looking at it. I’m always tinkering and changing something just to stay engaged in the ownership of it.
I’ve read of and talked to some guys that build a car with great enthusiasm but within a year if completion, they are looking to sell.
Who does this ?
I have this 4 door Dart that I don’t need but I am enjoying having it around.

This may be one that I just get running and sell. Who knows…,

My buddy is like this. He just finished painting and assembling his car with all new custom made interior and is now selling it.

I think if someone ends up selling, the love was never there.

Earlier this year I finished restoring this '52 AJS. The bike was lovely and rode great. It was a bi**h to work on and under engineered and the love slowly shriveled. I ended up swapping it for a Kawasaki triple.

Had my old mutt since 2006, did most the work and paint in 07.
Swapped in a lower mile 440 in place of the 383 4 yrs ago.
I have one of my grandsons that is interested in old cars.
When im gone the 67 will be his if he wants it.
Like you Greg, I don't think I could sell it .
There are many that are hands down better cars but this one is mine.

From the day I bought the GTX in 1982 I've declined numerous unsolicited offers, many of them quite generous. I have zero interest in selling; I'm not done having fun yet...

The four door Dart is a car that I wouldn’t have sought out, it just happened. I’ve thought that a 4 door Mopar could be a cool cruiser and this could be, but lately I’ve had a trend of being practical to some extent. I don’t drive the cars I have that much so how often would I drive the 4 door? I am enjoying the build of it though.

Maybe for some, yeah. Maybe it is like it is with chasing women though… you chase it and catch it, then realize it isn’t quite what you want.

I knew a guy that had one of those Kawasaki Triples. It had a great exhaust sound.

A wise man once said…
A man with one watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure.
Yeah, okay. How does that apply here?
Another man, not as wise, said You cant ride two horses with one ***.
To me, this sort of infers that with too many cars, I’d never get them done, I can’t drive them all. Maybe selling the Dart will allow me to actually move forward with this car…

Since the NASCAR theme is my latest idea for it…

Which one the H1 or H2 ?
Good buddy had an H2.
They can be finicky as well but I have always loved them.
Both bad *** !

built a 68 charger to nice to drive too much money invested in it sold it. bought 6 cars since then, have 3 left, The Cuda I have is the one I've always wanted, gonna drive that for a while, will sell someday after I drive the chit out of it. been offered good $$$ for it twice already. Hellcat pcp will sell that too. My 34 Dodge Brother kc truck, will keep that till I die. I love to debugger these cars and work on them, A hobby that pays back sometimes. A good way to have fun IMO.

Sometimes I wish I could think like this. But it's like betraying a pet?

I'm looking to add. 67 Barracuda. (Notchback for a less expensive and slight weight advantage vs fastback.) I have a build thought for a Stock/SS with a 273 commando. I believe it would be in S/N class. (Stock eliminator builds are very detailed and rules picky.)

And the addiction just marches on!

I'm keeping my Charger, but I've had plenty of cars that I buy, throw some parts at them to make them fun, and then sell to make room for the next one.

You can't keep them all, and I'd hate to be of the mindset that I need to keep every car I buy.

There are some you can never replace, and those you'd never want to replace.

Hey, didn’t you once send me two 10” rear drum assemblies free?
If that was you, I want to thank you again. That was very generous.

For some of us it is a hobby, for some a labor of love, call it what you will. For some they see a second gen Charger, they know what it will cost to get it done, and they know what the profit margin is if the market sets a certain price for that car. So, they buy, build, sell, and do their thing. Mecum is like the measuring stick that drives those people in the second group and sets the price for many people. I am in the first group. I owned a 66 Coronet 500 in high school, had a 69 Charger when I was in the military, couple of odd ball Mopars here and there. Now I look at the cars I would love to own, like the two mentioned above and have to accept that the market set a price that goes beyond my love for the cars. I realize that I am probably rambling a bit here, but no one will sell you a desirable Mopar because they know you will love it and give it a good home. That's why I have really rough projects. I at least got my foot in the door. I know Kerndog gets it because the proof has a name. Jigsaw.

'74 H1F

I rode both an H1 and an H2. I hated the handling of the H2 in the corners with an extra 70kg of weight. The H1 is heaps of fun, very reliable and easy to work on.

They call them widowmakers for a reason. They sound like a GP bike and when powerband kicks in, you easily get lost in the moment.

Unfortunately I have done this 3 times several years ago and still shake my head as to why. Cannot believe that I let them go but life was a little different than it is today. But still back then I could have cried after making the sale and probably did shed a tear or two.
First one was a 69 RR 383 manual factory A4 with black interior. Many people told me a beautiful car which it was. Sold it to an older guy in Ontario who walked with a cane and sent me an email several months later saying Mark if you build cars like this for people they will line up outside your door. Then a guy contacted me a few months later and had bought the car from his widow. Truly miss that car!!!

Second was a 69RR Q5 383 auto that turned out to be another beautiful well built car. A life long friend called me a stupid dumba** if you sell it. It went to British Columbia and the guy were ecstatic when it was delivered and said it was the best old Mopar he ever owned. I look at the pictures of it being loaded up for transport and just lower my head in disgust!!

Third one was a 70 RR TorRed 383 auto column shift with very few options. A true grocery getter bought at a dealer less than 50 miles from me and then bought in 74 buy a high school kid as a used car from the same dealer and I bought it from him in 2010. Had it blasted at a US military contractor facility and when I went to get it several guys there said man that’s a fantastic body with no rot. “Like it came right out of the desert” instead of Virginia. My step father in law was was with me when it was at an auction and said “you have got to be the dumbest ***hole I have ever met “. Went to NY then to a Mecum auction in Pa and then to Vanguard auto sales and now it’s in California and the guy who owns it now contacted me and said hey pics of the car are in a RR restoration book. He’s extremely happy with the car and said it has found a permanent home. Long way away but I still watch a video he sent me of the car. But what hurts the most about this car is I sent the restoration book pictures to the guy I bought it from and his daughter said he was not doing well and laid and cried cuz that was his first car. Also have to see the picture of it with me and my son when he was young and all I can think is seeing him grinning ear to ear in the back seat as I’m hitting the big pedal!

So from my experience only stupid dumb *** holes do it but regret it the rest of our lives. Not a sermon just my sad story
