Hey Icetech, great looking car! I see that photo of yours with the grey brick and i said that looks like Michigan! Seen you are from Macomb! Lived there in that area for 30 years and now 34 in Mississippi. Lived in Hamtramck, Warren, Roseville, Utica, Rochester Hills. Go back every year for 4-5 days with my high school buddies. Great state, great car culture, still my "home". LOL.

I grew up in warren (8 and vandyke) work in utica.. live in macomb now..

I need to find a couple of cheap 9" dog dishes for the fronts, eventually.. winter is coming..

How much did you move the rearend back, and how?
I believe it was 1.75" i used longer hangers from mancini.. not sure which ones now but you can measure the current ones and use this chart to get a longer one.. The rear hangers didn't need anything done they still have plenty of room..

I also moved the front of the springs in around 3/8" which gave me room for the 30x10.5's.. basically just moved the new hangers up against the frame and used 2 bolts and welded the hanger to the frame also. (made a hole in the frame for the spring eye nut to sit in and welded it to the hanger.. i wish i had done both holes though) And moved the perches on the axles.

The shocks are ona bit of a angle, i cut the calvert shock plates and angled the shock bolt to match so it's fine... i didn't like how the 62 had the axle so far up in the opening

If i ever change the gear back for normal driving i will probably switch to a 9" tire and drop the back and front 1.5-2".. i like how it sits now though

I have never seen that chart before, that is useful, thanks.
I am assuming "eye Depth" is from the mounting surface, but where exactly is eye height measured from, not wanting to assume?

honestly, no idea..i moved mine so it was up against the floor to try to sit a little lower.. of course now i'm very close to rubbing and didn't weld the nut on the lower hole.. if it's even an issue i can reverse it though no biggy

Thanks. I was just curious. My 62 Savoy rear is moved back an inch too. Redrilled ss hangers. Room for 30s, but not as much room as yours! I've got 10.5x28s on mine.
I had excess rear body lift with the stock 62 springs, so I used a lower location on the hangers to cut down on the body rise at launch.

yeah.. i might move mine to the lower holes, just a lot of work to do it now. the 30s barely fit.. they will rub on the outer well if i go over a big dip.. has only happened like twice, but that area is all smoth curves, nothing that can hurt the tires.. so not too worried bout it.

The fronts are 215/75/15 and man what a difference new front tires made.. i was hating the car with the crusy old BFGs (over 30 years old and rock hard) not i barely feel bumps...

Only real complaints right now is it shakes a bit too much at idle.. and a header tube is bouncing off the torsion bar at idle.. i need to fix that. it's on the list.

I have 275/60/15s on the back of my 62, a 10.8 by 28" tire, stock suspension, plenty of room.

What size tire on a 62 requires moving the springs?
