Were Dunlops ever standard equipment tires on an early 1968 build (8/67) and can this date code be deciphered?

Thanks.

Dunlop are not original tires to a 1968 mopar.

That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks for verifying.

What would be a good modern replacement size tire to fit on the original rims? The tires that are on them are 775-14.

Dunlop tires were what you bought when you couldn't afford retreads.

Just kidding!

225 70 14 I think is the tallest modern substitute

not a valid code..
I suspect it is a valid code.....it's just that we don't know how to decode it.

You probably need to buy the Cornflakes with the Free Super-Spy Decoder Ring mail-away gift.

That’s a tough one. No one makes a good looking 775-14, everything out there has the pie cutter sides and they don’t look right on a 67 R/T IMO. F70’s in radial repop would work. P metric is 215/70 equivalent.

This is the spare in my '66. Looks original, but I don't know for sure. It’s not a blue streak, but probably should be.

Are those pictures of two different tires? The first one looks different.

One says 7.75-14 the first says 215/70/R14

I always remember bias ply tires being labeled with a letter or number. Like a E78-4 (or ER78-14 for radial) equates to P205/70/14.. It was always cool in school to have a set of Pro-Trac L60-15's on back of your car, mostly cause you were 17 and having a car with a jacked up rear made it look fast.. I'm not sure what year they switched from fully numbered to letter/number combo to finally the P series.

Yes, you’re right! I forgot the whitewall is one of the radials that was on the original rims. I got mixed up when looking for the pics of the spare. I edited that post to be more accurate, now. I’m easily confused these days. :realcrazy:
