Driving down the road, the car in front of me jerked to the side to reveal a 4x8 on the road in front of me. Twisted the wheel and locked the brakes, drifted into the opening in the right lane. Antilock would have prevented that.
Obviously the thought is that it applies as much brake as possible before it locks up and slides or skids. On snow the noise and the pulsating is scary. I'm not a huge fan either.I'm not 100% sold on them but probably in most case they're better. Not having them once kept me out of a crash. A 77 Camaro turned in front of me. At the last second cut the wheel rear brakes lock and car skidded parallel to the jerk. It was so close I was expecting boom, a passenger could've touched the other car. Had to muscle the power steering to keep from going into a gas station parking lot.
