Valve Body Stand

Anyone ever make or have one that they can share pics/dimensions? Thinking something simple like a carb stand.
 
Maybe use an old seperator plate, four or five long carriage bolts and an array of shouldered nuts?? Ive never needed one myself, but that probably where i would start.
 
In the over 50 years of rebuilding transmissions, I never thought about a stand or the need for one. I can take a TF VB down to all the parts, mix them up and reassemble everything correctly. Not so the with the foreign trannys (Ford & GMs) but, I have books for them too.

Since it's my first and I'm going slow, was thinking I should have it more stable than just flipped upside down. Trying to stay organized as I won't be able to take a bunch of scrambled parts and put them back together. At least not without a lot more posts & pictures here :)
 
Find s good book for what you have.
I have 3 books for reference (including FSM). Sometimes none of them are clear - for instance the ends of the 2 sealing rings on the governor in my other post.
 
I use aluminum jaws in a vise when to hold the valve body vertical. Clamped with the rooster comb pointing up. Makes it easy to remove and install the pressure regulator cage, spring, and detent spring/ball.

That always fun to do. Where the heck fid that ball go to now has occurred.

Five FSM's, three pacific built manuals and a complete parts manual if in doubt. One Chrysler trans bible and complete training manual. One what to do on the cheap book for before performance parts were common. They all show things a bit different. Depending on the year things do change. Even upon application things change.
