Here lately I've been ordering from all over the country, all over the world for that matter. I spoke with our mail carrier the other day about why, with me living in the center of the country, do my packages go by me and go to Oklahoma or Texas before coming back to me. She told me that unless you go with priority mail, delivered in 2-3 business days, they won't deliver standard mail in less than 5 days, even if it's down the street. If they delivered standard mail in less time there wouldn't be any incentive to go with priority mail. She said it looks like a big shake up in the Post Office is coming. People's attitudes and work ethic in general are getting worse and it's reflecting on every aspect in our daily lives. Long story short, everyone wants a ton more money and a ton less work. With everyone screaming about a living wage being needed, for those that do nothing and want everything, they've pushed the bottom up. Now people that have a predominantly better job or are skilled, need more money. Wait till AI totally kicks in and the people at the bottom totally fall off. I've never said this before, but if you think it's screwed up now, I believe it's about to get really stupid in the coming years. I'll just leave it at that.
Those in the AI & high tech industries will continue do fine, until AI really kicks in in less than ten years, then they will be screwed too.
Hollywood is already screaming about AI actors and writers. 20 million for a movie for an actor, next to nothing for a better job and less aggravations with an AI actor. AI and high tech will be like all those computer programmer jobs that we thought were great jobs, till they weren't. More work being done with less people, including themselves. If they think the counties crazy now, wait till there are millions more standing around with nothing to do but survive anyway they can. I've already cut back on pallbearers, there's only two handles on a trash can.............. I'm doing my share to help!
Preparing was always my number one priority. I'm down to fighting weight now. I can put my arms around everything I own now.....
Well said. You know what they say when your at the top of the roller coaster ride on it's way down, HOLD ON!!Just wait until AGI kicks in![]()
This was why I spent 25 years driving a truck, and made a point to get really good at it. Technology dumbed the job down, which worked to my advantage, when there were few guys left who could operate a dry bulk tanker. Might be the last job AI won't be able to replace. Those in the AI & high tech industries will continue do fine, until AI really kicks in in less than ten years, then they will be screwed too.
Our Canadian Posties are on strike right now. Our postal service is losing something like $1,000,000 per day! These guys are totally shooting themselves in their feet. I can see mail delivery going down to maybe 2 days per week, and I am O.K. with that. Last year, when they threatened a strike, I put all my monthly payments on paperless, e-mail delivery. So, that's 6 or 7 pieces of mail coming in and leaving my mail box per month. Pretty well all I get is flyers and junk mail. I live on a rural route, with a mail box at the road. Postal service says it is moving away from home delivery, with community boxes instead. More $$$ to spend! Here lately I've been ordering from all over the country, all over the world for that matter.
