[Hey-O]

Now the real work starts to come together. First coat of plaster cloth to get a rough idea of what I want on this side of the diorama. My farm in the back and a small town in the front. This is a 40's, 50's time period. Street lights, telephone polls, restaurant, gas station, firehouse, store's, bar, church and a ton of wiring. What started out as a joke, has evolved into a strange plan. The other side will be a lake and a hillside with a waterfall, bridge and some sort of tunnel. Everything is bought and waiting. When I'm done I'll look at it awhile, take it apart and start over or give it to the neighbor for his son, it's made to come apart. This will take months to get it where I want it. I forgot to put in the entrance to the farm, a gravel driveway on the right side. I'll have to reshape the hillside for it. I'll probably pour the river and the two lakes last. My real plan, however the wind blows when I wake up!! LOL. Eccentric, oh yeah!

Very cool project! I’m looking forward to seeing the progress and the finished product. A friend of mine in Wisconsin who we boarded our boxer with at their kennel, had a huge setup in his basement. He had hundreds old Lionel’s and various other engines and cars. He didn’t have the time he would have liked to enjoy it with the big kennel and showing of his boxer and mastiffs. My dad always wanted to do a setup in our basement but never did, he worked for the railroad in the early 50’s and always loved the old steamers. Of course they were being fazed out, but he would still see them and remembered how the ground would shake when they started moving out.

Life and what we do and how we do it changes as we age. My first love is my family, the rest means little to me. Cars, I love cars and as a matter of fact, my car goes into a fabricators today. Why am I building a diorama and not working on my own car. The fact is, I'm simple moving on to a new past time. It keeps my mind busy. Thank you, you're very kind!........... Ulli

I understand the need to keep our old minds busy. I tell people that my toys keep me young. As you may know, I build car kits of all kinds and collect die cast car models. My collection sits at about 950 pieces. A friend of mine is organizing an old car garage tour, and asked if they can stop here and see my collection. I feel honoured!

I have a train, one. While I really like trains, it's the diorama that I really enjoy. This is what I mean. One of these will be built.
