Recently purchased this 66 Dodge Coronet 440. It's an unrestored original with only 50 k miles on it. The car has a 318 Wideblock motor and 727 trans. This car is a real time-capsule showing very little use in the interior (see pics). Someone did
paint the engine (orange instead of red). I never owned a 318 and I was very surprised with the power when climbing theses Western Pa. hills on the way home ! The car still has it's original spare (735 x 14 WW), looks unused. I found the Broadcast
sheet this afternoon and I can't decode it. I have the little Red Book (by Sessler) but it doesn't have any 66 Coronet data inside. Does anyone know where I can find this information? On the Vin# the Plant is a digit (#1) in the 7th position, does anyone know what plant this is ? Also, the original AM radio plays just like when it was new ! Here are some pics......

#1 is Lynch Road, MI

Clean car, poly 318 engine are great when they are not worn out, and the valve are adjusted right.

Beautiful car. It looks showroom fresh.
One thing....the "wide block" nickname is not accurate. The engine blocks were the same dimensions as all other LA series engines. It is the cylinder heads that made the engines wider. That changed with the LA series.

Thanks for the info, i was thinking it may be lynch Road since Lynch Road is now an "A"....

Excellent condition.
I always recommend changing to the 67 and up dual chamber master cylinder.

If it is 4 wheel drum, there is no proportioning valve. There may be a distribution block but it serves only as a junction for the lines, it does no proportioning. 4 wheel drum cars get their proportioning through the size difference in the shoe and drum widths and the wheel cylinder bore diameters.

Here's a hack where you can keep using the original distribution block if you don't want to change it.

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario, Bob. That is a great looking '66 Coronet survivor you found. The painted top that matches the interior colour MAKES your car. Thanks for all your pictures.

Thanks Kern Dog, very useful info.
