A few years ago, I was called on to verify a 1966 Belvedere II HP2 hardtop. The car was a November, 1965 build, and sported the HP2 fender signs. Although now painted bright red, the fender plate revealed the car was painted Mauve by the factory. I was surprised to find the Belvedere II side trim to be all chromed die cast pieces, instead of the expected anodized aluminium or stainless steel. Has anyone else run into this?

Pre 68 blocks have no serial numbers on them, so if the assembly date is before the build date, no one will argue the engine isn’t the original. And there is no way to prove it isn't the original engine unless the dates are wrong.

Nice find! I see you're zip code is Viroqua. My '66 Satellite was sold new in Viroqua and lived in that area for 40 years. Here's a picture from when it was new and a more recent shot.
