"Please S T O P saying this" thread.

Sorry, it's literally literal.

No apology needed:
"Decimate is a word that often raises hackles, at least those belonging to a small but committed group of logophiles who feel that it is commonly misused. The issue that they have with the decline and fall of the word decimate is that once upon a time in ancient Rome it had a very singular meaning: “to select by lot and kill every tenth man of a military unit.” However, many words in English descended from Latin have changed and/or expanded their meanings in their travels. For example, we no longer think of sinister as meaning “on the left side,” and delicious can describe things both tasty and delightful. Was the “to kill every tenth man” meaning the original use of decimate in English? Yes, but not by much. It took only a few decades for decimate to acquire its broader, familiar meaning of “to severely damage or destroy,” which has been employed steadily since the 17th century."

How about "yada, yada"?

"Wait. Did you just yada, yada- sex?"

Quantum leap.

A lot of these words only become annoying when OVERused or used by people that act as if they are edgy/trendy for using them.

Going along with the thread title.... nearly everything that comes out the mouths of those whiny bee-arches on those trashy reality TV shows.

Got hit with "welcome in" again over the weekend.

Sure would like to know what motivational marketing guru came up with that.

It's festering at new places every day it seems.

What's wrong with "welcome" or "hello"?

What are they trying to imply with welcome in?

That you are somehow out?

BTTF Flea how's it hanging.jpg

"How's it hanging?" ....well if you must know, it a little to the left and stuck to my leg.

I've got a 13 year kid - new saying every month, used constantly for a month, then never heard again. At the moment it's "that's such a hunk" to describe anything that's trash (hunk of junk). "Your car's such a hunk", "I need a new bike, my old one is such a hunk".
It's driving me crazy.

Had that pop-up show up when went from another tab to FBBO. Gold or not if showed, had to give it a NO THANKS! YY1 had a google email they were doing some ad work, didn't read it, of course.

"Breaking News" Just because one lame azz has put their 2 cents in doesn't make it "Breaking" Even lamer than "Bombshell."

What's next? "50 megaton blast report! Just in?"

Everything is WAY over hyped. And getting worse.

You sure seem to be bothered by this one.
Maybe the word in in the greeting is redundant but it is a friendly greeting. I don’t see it as a gesture to appear interesting or trendy.
I’ve heard some that were less educated say stuff like “I don’t know where it is at” without realizing that the last word, at, is a preposition that does not belong at the end of a sentence. The sentence is correct when ended at is.

That, my friend, is pure southern OHIO. Along with 'please' instead of what? Wanna come with? Instead of along. I could go on and on, and don't get me started on the appalachian pronunciations of things either, like Feesh(fish), lish(leash), sowee beens(soy beans), Booshing(bushing), which goes with Poosh(push), and finally worsh(wash).
Enjoy.
