Long shot - Gail + Danny etched in car

Long shot - ever since I got this car I have wondered who Gail + Danny were. They etched their names below the radio. Car spent all its life in Michigan (to my knowledge) until coming to Minnesota with me. Pics of car below. Used to have stock hood and silver wheels. If anyone knows of these...

    Best Vinyl Top Conditioner

I’ve had good luck with Car Guys Plastic Restorer for my black vinyl top. Like others have said - it does attract dirt and the stupid cotton from cottonwoods when they snow in early summer. But it does “condition” the vinyl as well in my experience and gets it pretty black and rich.

    440 Blowby near Carb base

I see a cast bowl in the intake below the carb - wonder if some carb cleaner is in there and is just blowing off once it warms up? This seems to be the area in which the smoke is coming from:

    440 Blowby near Carb base

Hey guys - getting the car ready for the year - doing some testing, new alternator, etc. When motor got to operating temp I noticed some smoke/blow by near the carb base on passenger side - behind and below the electric choke (eddy 1411). Never noticed this blow by before. Thoughts? Thanks.

    Sub frame repair/ 74 Satellite

I would - at the very least, clean off all the undercoating then reassess from there. Then atleast you know what you are working with. If all you needed was a few patches welded in here and there for structural integrity I would come do it for free - but I'm in Minnesota and you're in...

    AGM Batteries

When I grew tired of the red tops lasting a few months and replacing under warranty - finally got a AGM Platinum battery from Sears as well and it was awesome - better than the original Optima's we were used to running.

    Sub frame repair/ 74 Satellite

I would chisel off all that undercoating to see what else you find on the frame, my guess if you will find more soft spots......to me this looks beyond a patch job and I would find a new K-Frame that was suggested earlier.

    AGM Batteries

Optima's used to be good - about 20 years ago. Used to use and abuse them all the time in racing applications - then they moved their production plants to Mexico and QC went to crap - now they are junk in my opinion.

Road trips: They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the car.

Having a semi-accurate fuel gauge would be nice - ha! In addition, being cognizant of gear ratio - some steeper gears are fine for the street and short drives but on a road trip - you will be taking alternate/longer routes and potentially avoiding interstates.
