Just wrapped up the park issue. I’d say the rod was just a little tweaked. But I haven’t had my eyes checked in a while works flawlessly now. I’ll test drive it tomorrow

I did that. (Learned the hard way) I could also stick my finger into the gap between the housing and trans case before the snap ring goes back onto the bearing and could feel the rod against the tapered guide. A mechanics mirror also confirmed correct orientation. After pulling the pan and...

Seems to me the rod is bent. I don’t have a spare to compare to but there’s a few noticeable spots where it seems almost kinked anyone know where I could locate a new one?

Also in the above I did try leaving the linkage disconnected it doesn’t stay in park pops back as if under spring pressure, BUT, when the driveshaft was still out it operated fine.

I came here looking for a solution. Not to be talked to like a child by a keyboard warrior. If anyone else has input I’d like to hear it if not I’ll figure it out.

There is no good information out there as to what my troubles could be. Short of pulling the the dog that engages the gear and welding onto the tip to extend it I’m out of ideas.

I thought the same thing. So I’ve just finished pulling the extension housing again and making sure everything is lined up correctly. Again all 4 corners on stands she locks up in park no issues. Then I adjusted the linkage to the Haynes manual specs, again everything is working as it should...

For all intents and purposes it’s a stock floor shifter. When I put the trans in park manually It holds just fine. The driveshaft stays put. Once on the ground it rolls freely.

Yes the guide and snap ring are there. The dog and gear look good. The only thing I can think of is maybe the paw is bent or out of wack near the valve body.

No the new to me housing had everything installed already. Everything inspected ok.

I didn’t have to swap park mechanisms, just the housing itself. It already had everything installed. The guid is in place with the ring. The dog moves freely and I can get park to engage (by turning drive shaft) on the stands. But once on the ground I can hear the dog grinding on the inner gear...
