The 850 is a lot of carburetor for what's in your engine. What size are the primary main jets? At 60 mph you probably are in the transition between the idle circuit and the mains. Seems like either the idle mixture or the mains should be slightly richer.

Take some pictures, post them so we can see what you have.......maybe prevent a future mistake!

If I'm seeing this right I don't know how they let that job out of the shop.

I've run RJ12YC's with good results. I like Autolite plugs but can't get them tightened up around my headers. I think I'm going to try NGK's.

I think they're both cast cranks so the flywheel should be correctly balanced. I don't know much about manual shift stuff though......except that the crank must be drilled for a pilot shaft.

Define went bad/broke. Is there debris or they just won't stay pumped up. If there are pieces in the motor you need to find them....but if they just go flat perhaps you could inspect the cam lobe and replace them if the cam is OK. I would at least replace all the lifters.

I have used a Milodon 31015 7 qt and an extended stock pan on my 73 without modifications to the K member, What pans have you tried? Are you still using the isolation mounts for the K member? I assume your using the stock motor mounts. bryand
