I have a digital one as well. It didn't seem like there was much space between the flex plate and block but I'll give it a try.

It did have the inspection cover. Is there a separate tc shield? I did lose a carburetor nut recently:/ Have had this car for about six months now and haven’t done any work around that area…I think I’ll have to really get under it while it’s running and see what’s going on.

The converter drain plug is on the flywheel? I thought that was the flywheel. Would either of those cause the damage to be so spread out?

It's weird that the damage is not contained to a single spot.

It does look like the flexplate is hitting something. I put some sharpie on it to make sure the damage is fresh, and it is. All the bolts seem to be snug. What else is there? Also, I had to add a quart of ATF as it was low.

I started the car after sitting for 3-4 weeks. It ran fine for a few minutes but then this started. The noise does go away for a few seconds intermittently but comes back. I think it's a stuck valve hitting a piston.
